@JamaicaObserver So FraidVal needs to confirm if e-books & newspapers/mags (be it for educational or other purposes) that are either digitally or physically ordered will be subject to this tax & if tax would also be imposed on apps/software downloaded on tablets/computers for educational purposes

Facing criticism over her earlier justification of a digital services tax, Finance Minister Fayval Williams has moved to clear up mounting confusion over the Government’s proposed measure, insisting that online purchases of physical goods will not be affected.
She also warned that gaps in existing policies are allowing revenue to slip through the system and placing local businesses at a disadvantage.

The tax on non-alcoholic sweetened beverages, from which the Government expects to raise $10 billion during fiscal year 2026/27, has been pushed back by one month to May 1 to allow time for changes to be made in how the tax is applied.
