This one broke me today.💔 A 38 year old nurse and mountaineer named Saleheh Akbari and her husband Ahmad Khodaei opened their home to wounded protesters who were too scared to go to hospitals on Jan 8 and 9, because the regime was hunting them down. They treated them. Hid them. Saved lives. A few days later, on January 12, security forces raided their house. Ahmad wasn’t home yet, so they waited. When he walked in, they jumped him and started beating him. Saleheh threw herself between them to protect her husband. They shot her in the heart. Point blank. Right in front of Ahmad, and their little 8 year old. She died in his arms. The grief destroyed him. Ahmad couldn’t carry it. He wrote one last letter to his wife, said goodbye to the world and posted it on his Instagram. He took his own life. Two hearts that only wanted to help people, gone. Because they dared to show humanity in a regime that has none. This is what bravery looks like in Iran. And the world keeps scrolling. Share this. Their story deserves to be heard. 💔

Islamic regime forces raided their home and shot Salehe Akbari straight in the heart right in front of her husband. They later gang-raped her lifeless body and sent him the photos of the assault on her corpse. Salehe and her husband Ahmad Khodai were nurses. They were secretly helping wounded protesters during the January uprising — because the regime was hunting injured people even inside hospitals and executing them with shots to the head. In a voice note, her husband said they broke his ribs and damaged his kidney in prison, but the torture of seeing those photos of his dead wife being raped was a thousand times worse. In the end, he couldn’t bear it anymore. He posted a final goodbye on Instagram and took his own life. This is the Islamic Republic. They didn’t just murder her. They gang-raped her corpse, sent the photos to her husband to break him, and drove him to suicide. Pure. Fucking. Evil.

As I stated before, I prefer diplomacy if it leads to the right outcome regarding the Iranian terrorist regime. I appreciate the hard work of all involved in trying to find a diplomatic solution. At this early stage, I am extremely cautious regarding what is fact vs. fiction or misrepresentation. That’s why a congressional review process like the one the Senate followed to test the Obama Iranian deal is a sound way forward. Fair and challenging questions with a full opportunity to explain, and a healthy dose of sunlight is generally the right formula to understand any matter. Simply put, kick the tires.

تنگه را باز کردند. گفته بودند محال است. این‌همه رخ عقاب گرفتند و آخرش هم به دستور ترامپ اطاعت کردند که دو هفته بیشتر بقا کنند. این دو هفته هم می‌گذرد.

من با زبان توییت ترامپ مخالف بودم و هستم. ولی دیدیم در عمل با دو توییت، بدون شلیک یک فشنگ به «زیرساخت‌ها» تنگه هرمز را باز کرد. تحلیل‌گر صدا و سیما همین دیروز گفته بود: «اگر تنگه هرمز رو قبل از *پذیرش نهایی شروط ایران* باز کنیم شکست خواهیم خورد. چرا که اینها صرفا به دنبال کاهش قیمت نفت و پر کردن مجدد ذخایر خود هستند.» حالا با یک جمله در توییت ترامپ که پیشنهاد ایران «قابل بررسی» است عقب نشستند. یعنی طبق نظر خودشان هم شکست خوردند. بیانیه دادند که پیروز شدیم و (برای بار چهارم!!) به بازدارندگی رسیدیم؛ ولی همین هفته باید با قاتل رهبر خود هم مذاکره کنند و هم‌زمان برای وعده صادق (۵) آماده شوند. خودشان می‌دانند که قرار است از همان سوراخ مجددا گزیده شوند. یعنی از جایی بخورند که نفهمند از کجا خوردند.
