The Placement Service
The Placement Service@KUCCPS_Official·
Media Release: KUCCPS Opens Application Window for 2026 Placement to Universities and Colleges Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has opened its system for the 2026 application to universities, colleges and TVET institutions. The online application opened on April 7, 2026 and will run until May 6, 2026. The application targets the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination class and other Form Four leavers from previous years. The 2025 class can apply for both degree and TVET programmes. Whereas applicants for degree programmes will join universities from September, those applying for TVET programmes will be able to report to their respective colleges starting May, since TVET placement is continuous. In 2025 KCSE examination, KUCCPS received results for 980,444 eligible candidates, out of whom 268,700 attained mean grade of C+ and above, qualifying them for placement to degree programmes in the 43 public and 31 private universities. The remaining 711,744 who scored between C plain and E are qualified for placement to public colleges and other TVET institutions. In addition to the universities, 251 public TVET colleges including 33 university TVET institutes are available for student placement this year. The minimum requirement for application to degree programmes remains C+ (plus). For TVET programmes, individuals with any KCSE grade from A to E who sat exams between the years 2000 to 2025 can apply. Students who sat the exams within the same period and scored C+ (plus) and above are eligible to apply for degree programmes at the Open University of Kenya. As required by the Universities Act, 2012, placement of students into the institutions will be on merit; considering applicants’ listed priorities, KCSE performance and available capacities. Last year, KUCCPS requested universities and colleges to submit courses and capacities for the 2026/2027 Placement Cycle. The institutions were required to ensure that the programmes and capacities submitted were approved by higher education regulators – the Commission for University Education (CUE) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA). CUE approved a total of 322,396 capacities for degree programmes in the universities, while middle level colleges have a total capacity of 1,132,531 for this year’s placement to diplomas, certificates, artisans and other TVET levels. Secondary Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) have a capacity of 2,480. During the application period, the Placement Service will send its officers to various universities and TVET institutions in all counties to support applicants. Details will be published on the KUCCPS website kuccps.ac.ke. Applicants can also be assisted at all Huduma Centres across the country. Last month, KUCCPS completed placement of students to Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) for March 2026 intake. Form Four leavers who sat the 2025 KCSE examination and are interested in joining KMTC will have an opportunity to apply for September 2026 intake after completion of placement to universities. Those who repeated specific subjects so as to qualify for KMTC programmes will be eligible to apply, and all applications will be submitted online through the KUCCPS portal. {End} --------------- Picture Caption: KUCCPS Board Chairperson, Mr. Cyrus Gituai, (second right) and KUCCPS Board Members brief Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Education Julius Migos Ogamba on preparations for 2026 application for placement of students to universities and colleges, at the Ministry’s headquarters, Jogoo House, Nairobi on April 7, 2026.

It is both senseless and inhuman for this regime to orchestrate extreme brutality and cowardice by deploying hundreds of police officers in the dead of night to destroy the property of traders in Githurai and to terrorize innocent citizens. Such actions are a grave affront to human dignity and reflect a regime that has lost all sense of compassion and justice. Treating citizens as criminals while they struggle to navigate a mutilated economy is a new low for a government led by elites who are completely disconnected from the realities faced by ordinary people. It is a stark reminder of how far disconnected they are from the struggles of the common mwananchi, which they have caused through bad leadership and poor policy. The celebrity and clueless Cabinet Secretary for Interior claims to understand the plight of small business enterprises yet he dwells in ivory towers and pure indulgence in the excesses of public resources while threatening the opposition leaders! His indifference and that of his master is palpable, and their actions speak volumes about their lack of empathy and understanding. What was the supposed urgency behind the Githurai demolitions and the deployment of a full government force on innocent citizens at a dead night hour? Ironically, at the very same hour, a tragedy was unfolding in Isiolo where Mr. Gatobu, a Deputy Principal and a teacher of Physics and Mathematics at Leparua Secondary School, was being brutally attacked, stabbed severally and butchered by bandits on February 18, 2026 yet no voice from this despotic regime! These same bandits later raided a police station, wrecking havoc across the town, stealing cattle, killing KPR officers and locals alike, yet hundreds of police officers are dispatched to brutalize Mama Mboga in Githurai? Shame on this regime for its misplaced priorities and blatant disregard for human life and dignity. To the people of Githurai, and Isiolo, I stand with you as we look forward to liberation. But before that, Kenya is our country and no one should take away your constitutional rights! |photos courtesy|

Peter Steinberger is joining OpenAI to drive the next generation of personal agents. He is a genius with a lot of amazing ideas about the future of very smart agents interacting with each other to do very useful things for people. We expect this will quickly become core to our product offerings. OpenClaw will live in a foundation as an open source project that OpenAI will continue to support. The future is going to be extremely multi-agent and it's important to us to support open source as part of that.
