𝗠𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 - 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗱? 🪦 It’s not about the cheating. Sure, they smuggled hundreds upon hundreds of millions of owner funding into the club, disguised as sponsor revenue (as well as paying staff and overheads off-book) gaining a huge illicit advantage that meant they could outspend all competition. Yes, it’s what enabled them to cheat their way to all that tainted silverware and fully corrupt the integrity of the league. But you know what? If the League earnestly believed they could rein in Man City with regular sanctions, I think they would do. Hell, if Man City had plead out at the start, they might have got away with a mere relegation. But it’s about how they responded to getting caught that means these owners won’t be permitted to remain in the League. After the initial Der Speigel leak, Uefa went for them, at pace. Man City refused to cooperate or share evidence. Uefa sanctioned them. At CAS, Uefa shat the bed and Man City were let off. But shortly after that, Der Speigel leaked more emails which demonstrated Club officials and senior business leaders had lied - committed perjury - to get Man City off. They were caught with their pants down; their shame out there for everyone to see. No ambiguity. No missing context. Clear as day. They cheated and lied about it. Yet when the Premier League sought to investigate, again, Man City refused to comply. So the League took them to arbitration to force them. Man City lost and yet they still refused to comply. Instead, they took the matter to the High Court and Court of Appeal… and lost twice again. Only then did they comply (whether they’d tried to sabotage the original evidence by then, who knows - I’d put nothing past them). Throughout, Man City have demonstrated a total preparedness to corrupt the integrity of the competitions they are in and a refusal to accept the authority of the leagues to protect that integrity. Instead, they sought to conduct highly expensive lawfare to evade justice. You cannot allow such a powerful, malign actor to be part of your collective. They’re simply too dangerous. You just have to expel them. That’s why I have suspected the Independent Commission will recommend expulsion and sufficient clubs would vote for it. What could save them? A sacrifice. A fall guy. Someone that can take all the blame and walk away. The thing is, there are very few people who this could credibly be. Based on the leaked emails, it would have to be the entire executive for sure as well as Simon Pearce. But also, one of Khaldoon or Mansour. Given Khaldoon’s been put front and centre with the media for dealings with world leaders lately… and Mansour has basically been hidden away, with hit pieces out connecting him to the genocide in Sudan… I don’t think it’s a stretch to believe Mansour would be the one taking the bullet. Take the fines, compensation claims, stripped titles, and relegation on the chin and agree to sell the club to prevent expulsion. One or the other it must be. And hopefully, this summer, not next.

I think it really matters HOW you win the league. Arsenal's title has got little to no coverage, no eulogies from the media and no respect from rival fans. There are no dominant victories to talk about, no standout performers and the football they played was largely uninspiring. They were basically the least worst team in the division and in the end, hobbled over the line with some lucky decisions going in their favour. City's farewell for Pep and the players has got significantly more attention.

Manchester City’s punishment needs to be severe enough to the point where they feel all of the success they’ve gained from it wasn’t worth it. It needs to be seriously debilitating, I’m talking about multiple relegations, a huge points deduction in whatever league they end up in, it might even mean expulsion from the English football pyramid altogether. If I had it my way, Manchester City wouldn’t be able to compete at the top of football for a very, very long time.

@ExtremeFootbal4 So nice. Why do football games not embrace this stunning style? Forget the ‘realism’, which looks more uncanny and bizarre most of the time or sets your PC on fire.

On a serious note, it was a brilliant gesture from Arsenal to have Emmanuel present the players with their medals. We take everything for granted but many people with disabilities feel excluded and cut off, so his smile when giving out those medals was priceless. COYG

@TheArsenalMind Fabregas played and scored a penalty with a broken leg. Was such a dedicated Arsenal player. Went to a great Barca team, which is kind of fair enough for n scheme of things Wanted to return to Arsenal who had buy back but they didn’t go for it.

@Dan7Bow @piersmorgan @CPFC You are allowed to be negative about negative things. You are defending people who were negative about positive things… It’s two faced to slaughter the team all season then go party. Go to the game but only go on pitch to beg forgiveness for hysterical, reactionary views.

@piersmorgan @CPFC Lads, I’m not Morgan’s biggest fan but why are we now dissecting stupid shxt like this when we’ve just won the premier league and we’ve got a CL final coming up? The positive energy on here last week was such a breath of fresh air and now we’re back to negativity. Move on

Thanks Darren. To clarify, on March 4, I paid full price (£750 + VAT each) for 4 tickets to Palace’s very nice 2010 Club hospitality suite. Then we got invited into the boardroom, and offered the chance to go pitch-side for the trophy-lift. We feel very lucky. Thanks @CPFC 🙏👍
Darren@DarrenArsenal1

So heres the thing with tickets, you may feel it unfair, but like with every high profile sports game in the world, buying tickets often comes down to one persons ability to pay £X for tickets. It may be unfair to you, but thats the way of the world. So if your getting angry re @piersmorgan being at Palace. There were a lot of other people who were paying £2000+ for tickets. These tickets more often or not wouldnt be for the average match going fan anyway. Go try and buy a ticket for the Knicks finals games right now. Exactly the same. Lots of said people are not getting tickets in away ends. So havent taken tickets from you. Stop wasting energy and being angry on stuff when there are bigger issues to be annoyed about. Like how many tickets we have fir Budapest!

You’re trying to protect the person who got you the tickets and invited you pitch-side by implying it was all on Palace’s side. But we know who did that. We also know that you and your son do not deserve to be anywhere near Mikel or Martin or any player. Disgracia.

A reminder that on this day in 1989, Arsenal’s dramatic title win only had 2 mins of post-match analysis. 30 secs from the studio, the trophy presentation, a quick word with Tony Adams, then it was off to News At Ten. ITV did not mess about in the 80s.

@timstillman_ @garythegooner56 @DarrenArsenal1 @afc_richard @arsenal you need to look into Piers Morgan's history of comments on all things related to the club from Kroenke's to the managers/players & supporters. Many supporters are disgusted he was allowed onto the Selhurst Park pitch. He needs to be banished from The Club completely

@mufcaway_ Genuinely insane and disrespectful to compare Pep’s easy-mode trophies* to that epic Utd era. Pep still great but is far behind.

A hundred thousand loyal fans couldn’t get tickets for the Palace game but this traitor and his sons spend all season slagging off Arteta and get to celebrate on the pitch with him and the players. That’s not right.
