Sadness has engulfed the family of People Daily Editor Derek Otieno following the death of his eldest son, Barrack Otieno, aged 21. Derek shared the heartbreaking news through his social media accounts, revealing that Barrack passed away at Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment. According to the family, Barrack was admitted to the hospital on April 17 before his condition worsened, prompting doctors to transfer him to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for specialized treatment. He reportedly spent two weeks on life support as medical teams fought to stabilize him. The family says his condition took a tragic turn on Saturday morning after he suffered a cardiac arrest. Burial preparations are currently underway, with plans indicating that Barrack will be laid to rest in Malanga, Gem Sub-county. More details regarding the funeral arrangements are expected to be communicated by the family later.
