I worked in high end home building. Do you know how many clients, some worth $1B, were actually buying their properties cash? Absolutely none. They all had construction loans. Some sold their properties halfway through foundations being poured for 20-30% gains. You can turn debt into equity if you do it right. And none of you can convince me that you know better than the wealthy. Paying cash outright is for the financially illiterate that don’t know how to make money with their money. Geopolitical illiteracy is what will finally kill many of you. Because without even knowing anyone on the ground in Finland, a geopolitically literate person already knows that: a) Finland and other Baltic states like Lithuania and Estonia are NATO members who share borders with Russia, which places them in a uniquely dangerous situation, with NATO already at war with Russia via proxy in Ukraine b) Finland in particular has suffered economic losses due to restriction of trade with Russia due to European sanctions - so where are you supposed to find a job in a country whose economy is being ravaged this way? c) There are ongoing military tensions surrounding Kaliningrad, a Baltic exclave of Russia which shares a maritime border with Finland, with NATO making noises about invading Kaliningrad, and Russia deploying nuclear missiles there in response. A geopolitically literate person would immediately deduce that in this tinderbox situation, the only reason Finland would be opening up easy immigration routes to Africans is because Young Finnish people must be leaving the country, and the government wants to keep the economy stable by importing many more young Africans than there are available jobs, in an effort to keep wages low. The logical deduction for a geopolitically literate person would be that: a) You are likely never going to find a meaningful job in Finland if you move there, and b) Even if you somehow survive there, there is a good chance that war could break out with Russia at any time, and you will find yourself in the #AfricanStudentsInUkraine situation all over again. Remember that? I know all this despite having never set foot in the Baltics or Scandinavia, because I am geopolitically literate, so I can read world news and understand the implications of what I am reading.
