Is our appeal for forgiveness grounded in God’s mercy or justice? Amazingly, it’s both! Today on Solid Joys, John Piper explores how, in 1 John 1:9, God’s faithfulness intertwines with his justice in forgiving our sins. desiringgod.org/articles/how-t…

When was the last time you felt an impulse to do something for Jesus, but then you glanced around, thought how strange you might look, and let the desire die? Sometimes the tug is relatively small: Kneel in corporate worship. Stop and talk to a stranger. Other times, you may feel stirred to something bolder: Start a Bible study on your block. Foster a few children. Gather some brothers and try street preaching. But then you look around and see no one else you know following Jesus like that. And so you don’t either. Maybe Jesus would tell us what he once told Peter: “What is that to you? You follow me!” Read “Take That Risk for Jesus” by Scott Hubbard.

Is our righteousness like “filthy rags” as Isaiah 64:6 says? Today on Solid Joys, John Piper unpacks the significance of this verse not as a sweeping dismissal of all human righteousness, but as a warning against hypocrisy. desiringgod.org/articles/dirty…

Will God really show up every day? Will we trust him to show up every day? Anyone forced into a sorrowful season is slow to give Sunday-school answers. God tests our faith — will we believe, day after day, that just enough will arrive at just the right time? desiringgod.org/articles/the-t…

Have you ever been frustrated with God’s timing? This is one great challenge of the Christian life: God’s ways and God’s timing are not our ways nor our timing. But waiting in the pit of discouragement, when God is hiding his smiling face, prepares us for new security, a new song, and new significance. Our waiting is not for nothing. Seasons of loss and discouragement and grief and suffering help us know new depths of gladness. Read or listen to “Waiting Is the Hardest Part” by John Piper.
