BAD BUNNY: - He only accepted the invitation to Super Bowl to protest against the system, - He cancelled all of his USA tour stops in 2025 to protect his fanbase from ICE, - After Hurricane Maria in 2017 in Puerto Rico, he openly criticised the lack of humanitarian aid and performed a benefit concert, - Donated $ 1.6M to rebuild Puerto Rican baseball fields after the hurricane Maria & Irma, - In 2019 he shut down a major highway in Puerto Rico with 1 million people and did a protest against government corruption, - He wore a t-shirt in honour of Alexa Negrón Luciano, a Puerto Rican transgender woman who was murdered in a hate crime in 2020 during the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon (Mataron a Alexa, no a un hombre con falda), - Since 2018, he has been donating toys, art supplies and sports gear to the youth in Puerto Rico, - He starred in the music video titled “Yo Perreo Sola”, bringing attention to harassment and violence towards woman, - His music in general addresses perfectly the issues of displacement of Puerto Rican people, also mentioning colonialism. What did BTS do?

and this is why music journalism is dead. most people just want unbiased shit, not snarky shit. we’re stuck with you and empty shit like the RS reviews. You’re both worth the same.
Joshua Minsoo Kim@misterminsoo

@blufctchk @alliexloux @CondeNast there are very few people who want to write about kpop for pitchfork, not least because if you write anything remotely negative then you have to deal with kpop stans

you’re shitposting on your reviews as well though
Joshua Minsoo Kim@misterminsoo

@alliexloux @artaists @CondeNast people who actually read (ie not stans) will engage with the actual reviews and interviews i write. imo twitter is for shitposting and sharing music i like. i don’t care if people say they don’t take me seriously; these same people often don’t take arts criticism seriously

To Joshua Minsoo Kim & Pitchfork, Dear Joshua, We read you so called "review" and honestly, your review isn't a critique; it’s more a diary entry from someone desperately trying to sound like a sophisticated intellectual while failing to hide a very specific biased agenda. You called a project that explores Korean national identity "generic" while literally name-dropping your own bias in the middle of a BTS review. And among of the reviews written about Arirang album, you are the first and only critic who reached this level of unprofessionalism, Congratulations!! Worse, your arguments contradict themselves; you criticize the album for being too Western, then drag it for not sounding Western enough. Words like “generic,” “hollow,” and “banal” are repeated like a mantra, not because they’re true, but because You need them to be true and your word salad doesn't help your case. And the cherry on top of your review is your overlay dramatic tone. Phrases like “sound of their collapse” aren’t insightful but it's theatrical. You’re not analyzing music; you’re trying to manifest downfall narrative. Unlike professional critics like NME and Rolling stone that fans are waiting for their review and insight on their favorite album, your review can be classified as unwanted, unnecessary, and a big nothing. At the end, just a friendly suggestion; dear Joshua We all get it, you’ve got a fav playlist. Keep it on your Spotify, not in a professional publication. It’s embarrassing. Thank you.

@lil_tapas @misterminsoo @jaafar59465 she’s equating it in a personal sense, as what she is going to tell her children. i’m sure if it were an artist you respected you wouldn’t be so offended. either way bts is in the history books, sorry for you.

@misterminsoo @jaafar59465 Yeah it’s just gross sycophancy and borderline c**nery. The desire to equate bangtan as figures of K-liberation is ridiculous and so insulting to our revolutionaries.

@idk098765432123 @jaafar59465 @misterminsoo are you going to her kids and complain about it? misogynistic pricks who can’t take women being passionate about bands. would you say the same if it was someone talking about a gold medal or if the SK team finally won a FIFA championship?

@ilylianhua so bts has a lot of pressure on them but seeing what that means in practical terms he mocks it. lots and lots of therapy, probably a self-hating dude
