@arms_pandora i see, yea, personally think the wouldn't be popular for guns like this as it don't work for anything that isn't a lever action due to hand ergonomics, especially with the trigger guard where it is

if you are willing to go to the overseas SNS reddit, this subforum has people who are usually able to aid in indentifying whether or not military articles are genuine or reproductions
English

@whitezodiacjr @sabunatumakura its just the reality you have to be ready for if you are planning on getting anything that is a federal antique to expect it to be at least 2k unless you really dig deep to look for a deal
English

@fancy7722 the FPS game "Hunt Showdown" takes place during that era and does utilize the Martini and other guns of that era like the Vetterli
English

@fancy7722 the simple answer is that they prefer american made gun over foreign made ones, but the complicated one is that it would be extremely difficult at the time to get what is essentially a then state of the art weapon like the mauser, I can see imported martinis and sniders though
English

@sabunatumakura a great video overall, I would like to note as a extra tidbit for the bullet section as i didn't see it mentioned that the iron sights of the Lebel are also actually canted to the left of center, this was done to account for the bullet drift at long ranges from the rifling twist

@sabunatumakura Since I also ended up using C&R and Ian as my primary sources back when I wrote about my owned rifles a few months ago
English

@sabunatumakura talking about any old firearm will inevitably mean you will draw on the first two as your primary sources as they are the two easiest ones to find these days without having to go into buying specific books. I'm curious though, is "the mystery forum" a japanese equivalent?

@WAP_SANDGUST yup, the T52 is basically another iteration on the T44 as a midpoint between that and the M60
English

@dethernaxx yet, I know T52. The United States also produced the M60 through prototyping and research.

English

@WAP_SANDGUST @adams450box18R The T44 was never intended for serious use, it was made entirely as a "proof of concept" gun that there is value in adapting certain features of the FG-42 in their next squad automatic weapon which ended up becoming the M60
English

America saw the FG-42 as the path for squad automatic weapons. and developed the T44 as proof of concept. Forgotten Weapons had a great video on the US Trials for the T44
