An elderly man from a remote village in central Chad (100km from Bitkine) was brought to me at my request, to share agricultural advice, the kind of knowledge shaped by a lifetime in the fields. It was his first time in N’Djamena. He had a different attitude than most, out of respect, he never faced me directly when speaking. I handed him a canned drink and sat nearby, watching as he turned it over in his hands for nearly ten minutes, examining it with quiet curiosity. I kept wondering why he didn’t simply open it and take a sip. Eventually, he pulled out a knife and pierced the can. Surprised, I asked why he hadn’t used the tab. He calmly explained that he had never had a canned drink in his life. He had only ever seen them from a distance, never experienced one himself. It left me speechless… got me by surprise, a quiet reminder of how far removed some lives still are from what others consider everyday normal life. 🇹🇩 #Tchad

Around 1,500 plants in a compact space. The biggest challenge in farming is watering…vertical farming makes this much easier and more efficient. That said, it still comes with its own set of challenges.

I’ve experimented with vertical farming in small spaces, using a timer for automated watering, which reduces water use and speeds up growth. The trade-off is smaller plants at harvest. Any tips to improve yields? 🇹🇩 #Tchad

@cherife235 I also grow most my food in my backyard, from peppers, karkanji, watermelon, corn, lettuce, cabbage, even wheat 🌾 everything grows. Everything works. We have extremely fertile soil. 100% homemade.

@copperskin722 From other the sources I read, they migrated from East Africa/Horn. But from what you’re telling me, they migrated from West to East if they are senegambians (I didn’t know such group existed)

@deuxcent35 Baggara are a mixture of Arabians, Nubians and Nilotic elements. Fulani are classed as Senegambians because the majority of their genome and the language they speak is Senegambian. They only differ of other Senegambians because of their significantly North African DNA.

@copperskin722 No offense, just trying to connect the dots. I gave the exemple of the Fulani but it could have been the baggara. Why are the Fulani classified as Niger Congo or senegambians ? What about those in Chad, Sudan ? Isn’t it the same group ?

@deuxcent35 from Saharan Pastoral and it's too ancient. And Fulani speak a Niger Congo language speak a Nilo Saharan language. Fulani DNA is mostly Niger Congo with Northaf DNA while Tubu DNA is mainly a mixture of Nilotic and Takarkori with substantial Nubian admixture. Two different source

@deuxcent35 Honestly I don't see huge phenotypical differences between Tubu and Zaghawa beside that Zaghawa tend to have more Subsaharan features than Tubu but the differences stays minimal. And Tubu and Fulani despite looking almost same are quite genetically distinct. The only common
