@MattGrossmann Have the effects of union membership declined? Or has the baseline level of Democratic support among both union members and otherwise similar non-union members decreased? Could see it either way—just curious what you meant and what the evidence is.

Union membership effects on Democratic voting are declining & the education divide & culture war are counteracting mass class politics. But unions remain strongly organizationally tied to Democrats. Republican elites are not trying to side with unions or take advantage of tension

Really cool application of the multi-dimensional dynamic Bayesian factor analysis model that @DevinCaughey, Tomoya Sasaki, and I have been working on to model democracy around the world. Very rough, beta version of the R package here: github.com/devincaughey/d…

Here’s my swan song for The Economist on the state of “democracy” globally. We apply a Bayesian factor analysis model from @cwarshaw & @DevinCaughey to data from V-Dem, @annemeng_, @anthlittle + others and find 2 distinct components of decline v stability economist.com/interactive/gr…

We submitted this conference paper, called "Building Back with Partial Praise: the Limits of Framing in Public Opinion on the Biden Agenda" Journal targets? It is driven by current events, rather than theory. Or citations to make it more responsive to theoretical debates?

Which of these diff-in-diff scenarios yields the most credible estimate of the effect of treatment? Or are they all the same to you? (Here treatment is applied in period 1.) Some more discussion here statmodeling.stat.columbia.edu/2023/08/22/the…

These MIT STS searches (which are distinct from MIT’s Political Science / SCC search in politics and computing) might be of interest to political scientists who study science/technology.

Name the American state that is named for a region here in Pennsylvania... Hint: the region's name itself comes from a Lenape word.

@gregsasso @dandekadt Lepore has the best one-volume history (of which there aren’t many) but I don’t like it quite as much. YMMV
