And so it begins.... The 2026 SDG Advocate Training! We had a full house in the @TheLarkDublin, Balbriggan, today. 29 passionate Adult Educators and Community Leaders from all over Ireland joined the 7 month journey, designing and implementing informed action projects within their community to contribute to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. There were so many healthy attitudes, positive discussions and optimistic visions for the future. It was a breath of fresh air to be surrounded with such hopeful minds. "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has" Margaret Mead

🌟 Meet the people behind Development Perspectives 🌟 Next up in our team introductions is Paul, our EU and Special Projects Officer. Paul has been part of the Development Perspectives journey since 2013, and over that time he’s brought huge energy and commitment to everything he does. With a background in Community Sports Leadership, he’s been closely involved in projects around migration, integration, and global citizenship education. A big part of Paul’s role is working on EU-funded projects, helping to create opportunities for people to learn, connect, and think more deeply about global issues. He also has plenty of experience working in the adult and community sector, where he’s spent years facilitating and supporting learning in really engaging ways. He’s especially interested in income inequality and how it links to so many of the challenges we see in the world today — something that really shapes the work he’s involved in. Outside of work, Paul is all about sport (honestly, any sport!), loves to travel, and is a big fan of retro gaming. We’re really lucky to have Paul as part of the team.

Saolta's latest resource is now available on our website - Our Shared Humanity: saolta.com/elements/resou… This resource is designed to be used in conjunction with the delivery of QQI Module 4N1131, Personal and Interpersonal Development. Our Shared Humanity brings together the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Inner Development Goals (IDGs) in an engaging and accessible way for the Adult & Community Education sector in Ireland. From a GCE perspective, the SDGs invite us to see ourselves as active participants in an interconnected world - Engaging with the SDGs supports critical thinking, social justice, and collective action by linking global issues to our own lived experiences, both at home, and in our local communities. The Inner Development Goals (IDGs) then complement the SDGs, by making these global aspirations personal to us. Through the IDGs, we are encouraged to reflect on our own values, power, and identity, and how these shape the different ways that we interact with the world.

🌟 Meet the people behind Development Perspectives 🌟 We’re continuing our staff introductions with Maggie Campbell, one of our Saolta Programme Officers. Maggie comes from a background in journalism, political communication, and education, and completed her MSc in Educational Leadership at Queen’s University Belfast in 2022. Before joining Saolta, she worked as a mentor in a technical college in Newtownabbey, where she supported learners of all ages to re-engage with education and build confidence in their own abilities. Originally from the United States, Maggie is especially passionate about access and inclusion in education, and about helping people overcome the barriers that can get in the way of reaching their goals. Outside of work, you’ll usually find her cross-stitching, reading, baking, or spending time with her two black cats. 🐾 We’re really happy to have Maggie’s warmth, experience, and commitment as part of the Saolta team.
