@paschutz This of course did not occur in a vacuum. Some additional context would be Ellen Rosenfeld's comments on June 26th that labeled words like Scholasticide and Genocide as "hateful" and her apparent desire to censor references to the humanitarian crisis in Palestine from CPS.

Some more context on this moment from board member Ellen Rosenfeld, and Carlos Rivas, who witnessed the interaction. According to Rivas, the comment was made during a recess after the budget vote. Sierra-Rios and others left the meeting early. After Rosenfeld had said 'goodnight,' Sierra-Rios turned around and shouted "Free Palestine, Ellen," as she was walking away. Board President Sean Harden was made aware of the incident. I've reached out to a board spokesperson for comment.

i think A LOT of the Palestinian movement doesn't understand how much a simple expression of sympathy (maybe some candlelight vigils) and condemnation after October 7, before going right into condeming Israel's response, would have meant to many people.

I would leave this alone and let others critique this self-analysis. But he doesn't allow comments, so I will say something. I have watched Nassim "support Palestinian rights in the past few years." Yet not a word in the aftermath of October 7. No sympathy for his friends here in Israel. Nothing about the hostages. Relentless criticism of Israel. Perhaps some of it earned. But no suggestion of an alternative path. Zionists "refused to settle?" When? In 1947? 1948? 2005 in Gaza? I will keep my theories to myself but this post (and many many others) makes me sad. He will surely block me now. It's been a good streak and I have learned so much from him. But this is the last straw for me, even if it is the first straw for him. Lesson learned, though I would have preferred not to have learned this particular one.
