There should be more than 4 indicators of a good Manchester United manager. Right now, Carrick only clearly has one. Results. 1. Results 2. Structure and style of play 3. Long-term planning 4. Player development The results are good. Nobody can deny that. But results without structure are risky. Results follow momentum and morale. Once confidence drops, the system is what keeps the team stable. That is the main concern with Carrick. After many games, there is still no clear identity. The football still relies too much on individual quality and opposition mistakes. A strong system carries teams through bad periods. Without one, a bad run can quickly become a disaster. Another issue is the long-term plan. Carrick was not brought in as the guaranteed future manager. If INEOS and the Glazers suddenly change plans because of short-term results, then questions must be asked. It starts to feel like choosing the comfortable option instead of the right one. Player development is also hard to judge right now because Carrick is still inexperienced. But that is also part of the concern. United are already rebuilding the squad. Adding an inexperienced manager to that is another huge gamble. Big clubs usually need proven players and proven managers together. Carrick could still succeed one day. But making a permanent decision too early could become a costly mistake long term.
