Following damage to one of the Meadow Lane scoreboards, this afternoon’s Sky Bet League Two fixture against Colchester United has been postponed in the interests of spectator and player safety. Two panels in the Kop scoreboard, which is fixed to the roof of the stand, have come loose in the recent high winds and it will not be possible to make the necessary repairs in time for the match to safely go ahead. Following conversations with this afternoon’s match officials, our opponents, the EFL and the Sports Ground Safety Authority, it’s been agreed that, particularly in light of this afternoon’s weather forecast, these loose panels pose a significant risk. Tickets and hospitality bookings will remain valid for the rearranged match, a date for which will be confirmed in due course. We’re unable to process any refund requests until the new date is set.

@engineering_joy In a lab, it's not about credit, it's about collegiality, helping eachother (which results in credit anyway). Do need to say, it is not appropriate to call out a junior colleague on X like this.

Postdocs do a lot of invisible labor in academia. The majority of which is helping PhD students. Many of us are happy to do it, but when students fail to acknowledge that help, especially in front of the PI, it kinda kills the vibe. Give people credit for their work.

This cause would be helped if people in the UK stopped calling their children stupid names.

Fixing phone - needed to wait 30 min. Went to cafe next door, completely empty, but had 'no laptops' sign. Asked if it was OK to work for 30 min with a coffee. She said yes. Coffee was served, then manager came and told me the owner hates laptops and I must put it away or leave.

@FPLKillua_ I missed the report by the player where they expressed their displeasure of wearing the sponsor.

@dfido1 As someone mentioned in the original post, wearing a sponsor isn’t optional for most footballers and it doesn’t immediately mean you support/represent the sponsor on the team shirt. The armband is a clear option and sign of support which he doesn’t want to be part of.

Wearing a betting logo was ok though.

@mesinioti Move away from publishing in gold standard journals and just get the paper out on the back of a napkin. If it’s impactful enough it’ll gain the citations.

One thing I struggle with in academia is how slow things can be. Great ideas, collaborations, papers, but all these often come to life when they're no longer relevant (if at all). How do you deal with this and any tips to speed things up? #AcademicChatter #AcademicTwitter

@lakens 100% this. There’s also the issue of some journals requiring you to log into their systems to decline (to which you first need to create an account). Neither of which I’m doing.

@DonkinFaith @Smil3yAngel He’s not “allowed” to harass her in the first place, so it seems arbitrary rules are meaningless. As an outsider, it’s hilarious to see conversations such as this. People worried about things that don’t happen because it’s easier to be transphobic.

I have never once, in my 45 years of living, been harassed in a bathroom by a trans female. However, I have been harassed by a man walking down the street minding my own business many, many, many, many times. Gender neutral bathrooms aren't the problem.

Presumably this will be right after your repeal the Domestic Abuse Act for James?
