I've used a number of data analysis protocols when leading data discussions with school teams, but I always find myself adapting them to my liking. I've decided to make my own that functions exactly as I want and I wanted to share it. #eddata #k12 #edchat tinyurl.com/4anxj5fv

Chatham is the town in which I used to live and teach. Tonight I am sick thinking of this tragedy. Pray for the community. Vehicle smashes through Illinois building, killing 4 young people and injuring others apnews.com/article/chatha…

Forcing thirty kids in a classroom to all learn at exactly the same pace is a crime against the human intellect.

@rpondiscio @DTWillingham Is the issue ultimately that schools just don’t know how to incorporate reading instruction into other disciplines? Are subjects so siloed that it’s become hard to cross the lines?

If you're cutting any subject--social studies, science, or the arts--to make more time for reading instruction, you're doing it wrong. As @DTWillingham has reminded us, "teaching content is teaching reading."
History Matters@HistoryMatrs

Social studies shouldn’t be the first thing cut from the schedule. It should be the foundation. History texts make for strong readers, critical thinkers, and engaged citizens. 🗽#HistoryMatters @AHAhistorians @edutopia @educationweek

I am a proponent of using #eddata the right way. If data collection is not worth the return on investment, then dump it. No one should be burdened by disruptive data collection that isn't even that helpful. #k12 #edtech

@ASA_Impact @teachcardona This is a good articulation of the problem. The education field is data rich but information poor. We need systems that uses the data to its potential.

“There's a lot of good systems that are not talking to each other. So whether it's K12 to two years to four year (colleges), to industry partners, to labor, everybody's working hard…just not necessarily at the same table.” -@teachcardona #ASUGSVSummit
