@ProgressMO Yes. The economic growth which will follow tax reform will provide more revenue for the State to work for everyone.

There are thousands of details which most aren't privy, so it's difficult to measure this effort as a citizen. However, there appears one data point which every St. Louis City citizen is acutely aware: the profound incompetence of the governing machinery and its operators makes this highly improbable. There's zero incentive for County residents to onboard this organization.

The primary problem is that denying the problem precludes a solution. These folks do the city no favor by claiming STL isn't desperately broken. It's true STL has remarkable bones - just like the thousands of abandoned brick homes strewn across the city. To rebuild is to identify the foundational problems. Bizarrely incompetent local governance and profoundly devastating crime.

One challenge with talking about St. Louis is that many locals get very angry when you point out that the city has more crime than other places and this may be a big reason why the population continues to decline.

Umm... I live in the city. I am from Chicago. Since 2014, when we moved to St. Louis, the following has happened: - My son was carjacked and kidnapped at gunpoint. - My house was broken into while I was in it. - My car was stolen. - My son's ex-girlfriend was murdered around the corner. - I've had 3 catalytic converters stolen. - Two of my neighbors homes were broken into - and then the women were sodomized. Beautiful city, gorgeous building stock, great parks - and an outrageous crime problem. The negative narrative about St. Louis is real and deserved.

I’ve never seen people hate on a City as much as St. Louis, especially hated on by “locals”. And by “locals”, I mean those West County and St. Charles County residents who wouldn’t even be here if it weren’t for the City but would love for the City to be completely leveled.

25 years ago Missouri made up 2% of the US GDP, today it’s 1.5% or a $36billion lose. On a related note, #moleg become republican majority 24 years ago.

Live in and work for the City of St. Louis. I grew up and lived in Richard M. Daley’s Chicago, The City that Worked. The systemic problems in the governance structure and the politicians which run it are truly debilitating. The organization cannot do the simple things (trash, snow, public safety, education) - and are powerless to impact the large and complex issues which beset St. Louis. It’s a death spiral. And it’s a tragedy. Absolutely beautiful city, unreal housing stock, beautiful parks, and decent infrastructure.

Perhaps government at all levels will be forced to live out the moral imperative of spending every tax dollar wisely, efficiently, and effectively. The amount of waste, fraud, and abuse is immense - and the implications are profound. First and foremost is the average citizen going to polls and voting for decreased taxation. You think they’d do that if they observed government kickin’ ass with their tax dollars?

🚨 Simulation Theory: The Double Slit Experiment proves particles act like waves until observed then they snap into particles. What if our reality only "renders" when we're looking, just like a video game optimizing resources? Check out this episode from The Why Files breaking it down, tying it to Simulation Theory. Are we in a sim? This could be the key to unlocking the true nature of existence! The Why Files video did a great job on explaining the Double Slit Experiment & Simulation Theory What do YOU think—real or rendered? Drop your thoughts below!

The Tower Grove Connector looks excellent. Huge upgrade for pedestrians and it made Tower Grove Avenue “right sized” for the traffic volume and what borders that street (housing and the Botanical Gardens). It’s one of many good infrastructure projects going on in the City.

I'm sure you have high thread count sheets, a really expensive car, and an impressive house. What's it like living with external luxury with internal bankruptcy?

@MarkMaxwellTV Perhaps a little reporting on the staffing levels at City Tow might illuminate the problem.

Can we call it progress? The Streets Department felt a little heat from the Mayor’s office after our story ran last night. The infamous abandoned car that racked up thousands of dollars in tickets now has a new home at the tow lot. One down, 39,999 to go!

St. Louis could have millions more in city revenue and cleaner streets. Instead, it has countless abandoned cars littering the curbs and a boots rusting in a city storage locker somewhere for the last eight years. Which would you rather have? ksdk.com/article/news/l…

When watching this attack on @ZohranKMamdani, it's important to know that there are few more loyal spokespeople for billionaires & corporations than this person - which explains why he's appalled by the idea of higher taxes on oligarchs & why why he has a permanent cable TV job. As the saying goes: "It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.”
Fareed Zakaria@FareedZakaria

Blue cities are out of control, promising more, spending more, delivering less and pushing off fiscal problems to some future day. Democrats in city halls should stop governing as if the goal is to announce new entitlements, and instead make government work. My take:

I’ve seen people say if the Bears move to Indiana the players will too. Sure a bunch of young, black rich guys are dying to move to racist Munster or Dyer Indiana when the team practices in Lake Forest.

@cjnich79 His policies are the reason the McCaskey’s don’t have enough resources to fund their own stadium? Taxpayers should not foot the bill for billionaires who put a dog shit product on the field 90% of the time.

@illinihead21 There's no one in this thread who wouldn't maximize the ROI of a stadium in the exact same way the Bears are negotiating. I bleed blue and orange - and want my Bears to have all the bennies they can get so they can spend stupidly on players.
