Dear Jamila,
Thank you for your feedback. I was expecting this. So, let me break this down for you.
The athletes and sportspeople who were rewarded after the Super Falcons and D'Tigress victories were pan-Nigerian, meaning that they were not just Lukumi Yorubas. In fact, I believe a significant number are from the Southeast.
Also, there is a difference between athletes enrolled by Nigeria to take part in global tournaments, like the Olympics, World Cup, Commonwealth Games, and Continental Mundials, as part of the official Nigerian Federation team, and individuals and teams who take part in competitions organised by private institutions, like TeenEagle and The Global Spelling Bee.
Even winners of more prestigious private international competitions, like the Miss World or the Miss Universe, are not rewarded by their national governments in the same way as sportspeople who represent their countries.
Nafisa Abdullah is a talented youth. However, you will recall that only last month, a team from an Anambra school, Myrtle Vine Academy, won a prestigious global prize organised by a private body for developing an app called BizApp and edged out other teams to emerge global champions.
A month before then, in June, St. John Vianney Science College, Ukwulu, Anambra State, won an international debate in England.
Prior to that, a Nigerian team led by Samuel Olaiya, from Igbobi College, Lagos, and Abdul-Qoyyum Oyadeyi from Oxbridge Tutorial College, Lagos, won big at the 2022 Global Robotic Challenge in Geneva, Switzerland.
None of these teams or pageant winners were rewarded by the Federal Government, because they were not officially representing Nigeria. They entered private contests after being registered by their schools, or in the case of Chidinma Adetshina, by the Silverbird Group.
Professor Isa Pantami knew what he was doing. He is opposed to the Tinubu Government and wanted to trigger Mutanen Arewa to turn against him because of 2027, which is why he suggested that Nafisa should be given the same $100,000, an apartment, and a National Honour as the Super Falcons and D'Tigress players. You, Jamila, have swallowed the bait.
For your information, I was one of the first people to write a congratulatory message to Nafisa. I can show you my timestamped congratulatory message penned on the same day Pantami posted about the win. However, I was waiting for TeenEagle, the official organiser of the event, or a reputable British firm, to acknowledge the win.
Up until now, TeenEagle has not said anything about Nafisa.
I called TeenEagle on their official line at +442045770777, and they said they were unaware of it but would investigate and get back to me. They have not got back to me yet.
I have sent multiple emails to info@teeneagle.org, but they have yet to respond.
So, I sent one of my staff to their office, Gough House, Rooms 1&2, 57 Eden Street, Kingston Upon Thames, London, United Kingdom, KT1, and the address has been permanently closed.
On their website, there is nothing about Nafisa or the completion.
Meanwhile, not a single British media outlet has written about this win.
And instead of us finding out why this is happening, you, Jamila, are trying to whip up ethnic sentiments.
I hope this helps.
Thanks again, and may God bless you.
