This is part of why I feel so strongly about not babying Buck in some circumstances. I know a lot headcanon him as having ADHD & Oliver has embraced that headcanon. Many of the ways he shows emotion lines up with that. He is still responsible for figuring out how to regulate them

Symptoms I didn’t realize connected to my ADHD was emotional regulation. Seemingly sudden meltdowns/lashing out disproportionately. Realizing that, has helped me, I can offload some of the shame that I was “too sensitive” & also take accountability for when I really did overreact

It’s easier to admit that something was disproportionate or an overreaction once you realize that it’s not a personality flaw, it’s your brain trying to sabotage you. It’s not my fault cause I didn’t know but it’s also not their fault for not understanding neither of us did

The way 9-1-1 does a whole complicated exploration of grief & trauma meanwhile the rookie is like oh this person was kidnapped and someone tried to steal their baby from their womb and someone was buried alive and tattooed on by a serial killer but it’s okay ITS ALL GOOD 👍🏽
