American companies pay well. But the downside is that you can wake up one morning and find out you can't login to your work computer or enter the office building anymore because you have been laid off. It's called "at-will" employment. It means either you or your employer can end the relationship at anytime for any reason. So, yes, the pay is higher but so is the job insecurity. In my last role at Shell, my boss (who is German and worked in Germany) often reminded me that I earn more than him despite not only being my boss but also 20 years my senior in the company. And each time I remind him also that it will take an act of Congress for Shell to fire him in Germany whereas Shell just needs to wake up on the wrong side of the bed in America one day and they can let me go. High risk. High reward.

Oracle Layoffs - The EMAIL. The job cuts will affect somewhere around 20,000 and 30,000 - which is about roughly 18% of their global workforce. This has been clearly evident since early-mid Feb as I have been alerting.

Can anyone with an MBA help me understand the “theory” behind laying off the 25th most tenured employee in a company of over a million people? In my experience (I was top 8.58% of tenure), the cultural value and institutional knowledge, possessed by people like her was well worth her wages. But like 16k of us, she woke up locked out, laid off and jobless on Wednesday morning. And immediately pushed forward - which is why I don’t understand the “theory” behind some of these decisions. #amazonlayoffs @USDOL

The responses to this shows me how uniformed a lot of Nigerians are. Nigeria doesn't use the federal reserve we have the Central Bank of Nigeria. When you see stacks of U.S. dollars wrapped in plastic or nylon or paper bands that say Federal Reserve, it usually means the money was bundled and processed by or for a Federal Reserve Bank or a commercial bank that follows Federal Reserve cash-handling standards.

But how did Diana eneje get this federal reserve nylon just asking 😭

A set of Nigerian doctors said I was lying about this story. Look at the incision made for an appendectomy. How will the bladder not be perforated like this? You guys are always quick to defend. Every story is false to you because it hasn't happened to you. My primary concern is for this child to heal. As for the doctor, he will be handled accordingly.

A doctor performed an appendectomy on my 6-year-old cousin and perforated her bladder. After discharge, she developed a post-surgical complication, and they sent her back to the hospital. This doctor took her back to the theater to correct whatever he had done without the family's consent. He made another cut on this little girl, and when he couldn't repair the damage, he referred her to the teaching hospital. On the referral note, he stated that it was “ruptured appendix.” There was no ruptured appendix. In fact, he told the child’s parents after the initial surgery that it was a good thing they brought her in quickly; if not, the appendix would have ruptured. The family wanted to take this up against him, but I told them that surgical complications happen even with the most experienced surgeon. Is it normal for this doctor to go to the teaching hospital where he isn't working to access this child’s folder? According to the child’s mother, he specifically met a student nurse, pretending to work in the teaching hospital, and accessed the folder. When the child’s mother saw him and confronted him, he immediately left the unit. Isn't this a questionable behavior? Are HIPAA laws not applicable in Nigeria? If he's not guilty of something, what is it looking for in the folder?
