We were told refusal would result in being deplaned, sent to a ministry office, and potentially blacklisted from future travel to India. Officers involved had no visible name tags. We paid only to avoid missing our flight. 3/4

As U.S. citizens visiting India, we legally entered the Andaman Islands via Port Blair immigration, went through the foreigner counter, and were allowed entry. We visited only Port Blair and Havelock - no restricted or tribal areas. 1/4
