@bw4ll Last year was a dumpster fire. I’ve not rated a new film 5* since Dune 2 I think and that’s two years ago now. OBAA came closest

@digiCS2 I mean at least this year is better than last so there is that. Great year in film and I still have to watch SV, Hamnet, secret agent and no other choice.

@bw4ll But I think Coogler is sick and will watch anything he does and I’m in the minority that didn’t like the end of the movie. I still think Leo’s performance is my fave of the year. He had my in bits

@digiCS2 Yeah I saw OBAA in imax and once at home and my second viewing wasn’t as enjoyable especially the first 30mins. Good film but not the best pta by far. Sinners was very near to me especially the highlighting of blues music and loved the original setting. Plus the music was 🔥

@bw4ll I love Chase’s performance but she isn’t up for supporting in many, mainly best actress or not nominated at all somehow

@digiCS2 Ah I forgot about chase. Honestly after times gone by I’ve liked her portrayal more than Taylor’s. Maybe it has more to do with the movies ideology ruining the performance for me but chase seemed so much more raw and not overly stylized.

The bar for white actors is sooo low cause what is this lol.

@bw4ll Some had Infiniti supporting, some main, some didn’t nominate her. I would have had her for supporting personally as the strongest. Taylor was good but it wouldn’t offend me losing to Amy Mad tbh

@digiCS2 I’ll agree that there isn’t a super standout role in supporting but felt hers was at the bottom imo in the category besides maybe Elle. Think it’s her wunmi and Taylor to take it.
