An update on Mar'verick's movements, the white-tailed eagle who fledged from Mar Lodge in 2022. In 2024 he has spent most of his time in the northern Cairngorms but made periodic forays west as far as north-west Skye and north of Ullapool. Thanks to @RSPBScotland for the map.

Now that’s what I call a bombproof anchor. @HMCoastguard putting in the training hours for all those crag snatches and pick ups. No climber wants to see these caped hero’s in a profession capacity but reassuring to know they are loitering in the background.
Maddening and frustrating, but probably due to ignorance (and laziness) rather than badness. Please spread the word if you know anyone thinking about using bothies: rubbish in toilets can - ultimately -close a toilet and endanger a bothy.

I despair. The Ben Nevis summit shelter is, as the name suggests, a refuge for people who may require it in an emergency. Instead it’s been used as a dumping ground for selfish people who can’t be bothered to take their sh!t home.

What is the most random thing you have ever seen in the hills?
Yesterday, in the deepest recesses of Glen Pean, about 50m west of Lochan Dubh, was a sign post. Completely blank but in good condition. I wonder what the point of it was/is?
