The Multi-stakeholder Dialogue on Business and Digital Rights successfully concluded yesterday. We are deeply grateful to everyone who made this event a resounding success, our partners at the European Union, @EnabelinUganda , and the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, as well as the brilliant state and non-state actors, business leaders, and digital rights advocates who joined us. As we transition into Uganda's digital future, here is a quick look at the vital lessons and facts shaping our path forward: 🟧Human-Centric AI Strategy: Uganda is in the final stages of its National AI and Emerging Technologies Strategy, aligning with global standards (like ISO/IEC 42001) to position the country as East Africa’s leading tech hub by 2040 while keeping human rights at the core. 🟧Empowering the Grassroots: Evidence Methods Lab reminded us that digital rights awareness belongs to everyone. Using local languages like Luganda and Runyankole with simple, relatable storytelling is how we truly bridge the digital divide for our SMEs. 🟧DPI as an Enabler: Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) is critical, not just for secure KYC and financial integration, but for creating a fair, remote-work-friendly economy where young content creators are fairly compensated. 🟧Sovereignty & Security: True data sovereignty means ensuring Ugandans have the local technical capacity to manage, protect, and control their own data independently. #BeeraSharp
