I believe everything's just in the mind - "taking a year off" is an escape mechanism imo - you just need to face the shit.
For me, I think with time I just stopped giving a fuck about anything - like literally. Even if the business is going to hell my mind is blocking it - worrying or stressing about it doesn't help. As a result my brain is super calm, more pragmatic and this allows me to focus on what matters and on solutions (not going into freeze/block mode).
It builds a strong mental resilience which from the outside it looks like you are emotionless zombie - which is quite the opposite.
I don't stop myself to do the things I want or enjoy. If I wanna take a day off I will, if I wanna work 24h today I will. Don't try to fool yourself, your brain already know the answers
