This is proof that sometimes you never know how good things can get, and even then, they can sometimes get even better. 13/10 for all

After so many years reading the New York Times coverage of the Middle East, I think we've taken for granted how much it has affected our understanding of the language regarding Israel and it's behavior. It's kind of the way that AI is affecting our ability to to differentiate between human and AI-generated writing. Over time, we get so used to the AI-generated writing that everything starts to sound the same. For example, I was reading updates from the Times this morning about Israel's actions in Lebanon. When you read a sentence like this: "Israel has been fighting the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah in a sweeping ground offensive in the country’s south." You don't come away with a true sense of what's really happening on the ground, which is that Israel has invaded another country and is now setting up what could be a long-term occupation in that country. While this might not seem like a big deal, it's incredibly deceptive, and after years and years and years of reading this type of writing, it has completely skewed our understanding of what is happening on the ground. nytimes.com/live/2026/03/3…

They removed CD/DVD drives from devices. They made physical media harder to buy and use. They removed expandable storage from phones. They pushed us into streaming subscriptions. They made always-online normal. They made unlimited internet necessary. Then slowly raised the price of everything. Ownership quietly became renting.

Absolute bombshell. Pope Leo directly rebukes Pete Hegseth for trying to frame the Iran war as a Christian holy crusade. The Pope declares God will not listen to their prayers because their hands are full of blood. A devastating moral condemnation of the Pentagon.

Some more favourite close ups of the Cherry blossoms over a period of 3 days of photographing these trees close to my house.

That's it. That's the best picture from Saturday's No Kings protests in the USA. The literal Statue of Liberty being detained by police. It doesn't get much more poetic than this.

UPDATE: He IS actually carrying the petal! In response to yesterday's photo, I checked the sequence of the shot and it appears the bee is indeed taking the petal and flying away with it. I have never seen something like this before!

My wife bought a smart treadmill last January. She swore it'd revolutionize our morning routine. It has a giant screen that yells at you in real-time. For the first three weeks, she woke up at 5 AM to run with a virtual instructor named Chad. Chad's very enthusiastic about pushing your limits. By February, Chad was running alone. Now the treadmill is a very expensive clothes hanger. It currently holds three hoodies, a wet towel, and my gym bag. Yesterday it asked me to update its firmware. I had to connect our clothes hanger to the Wi-Fi. It took forty minutes to download a patch just so it could continue doing absolutely nothing. I'm afraid to unplug it because it tracks our biometrics. Chad always knows.

When my daughter (now 12) was about 2 years old, I was washing dishes while she toddled around outside. As I finished the dishes I absently realized that I didn’t hear her usual toddler gibberish, but rather a soft, rhythmic sound I didn’t recognize. I go outside and see her kneeling down, singing a song to the baby bunny that lived in the rosemary bush. As I watched, the bunny came up and sat right in front of her, just listening to her sing. It was so close she could’ve scooped it up if she’d wanted to. With the right people, the animals remember Eden.

Just watched the Netflix dinosaur documentary series. Highly recommended, the attention to detail is incredible. My daughter and I noticed there was no grass on the ground! Our little research revealed that grass didn't actually exist during the age of dinosaurs!!! It's so easy to miss with all the lush and green scenary. Then we jumped with surprise to see what looked like a little bit of grass in the closing scenes of the series. We researched again, and it seems grass had started growing by the time of the dinosaur extinction event!

🦔 Meta contractors in Kenya told Swedish newspapers they're being asked to review intimate footage from Ray-Ban AI glasses, including people undressing, using the bathroom, watching porn, and filming sex. One contractor said users often don't realize they're still recording when they set the glasses down. Meta sold 7 million pairs in 2025, up from 2 million in 2023-2024 combined. Users can't use the AI features without agreeing to share data with Meta's servers, and the terms of service bury the fact that humans may manually review your footage. One annotator said "if they knew about the extent of the data collection, no one would dare to use the glasses." My Take This is the Google Home story again but worse. At least with cameras in your house, you know where they are. These are glasses you wear on your face that keep recording when you take them off and set them on your nightstand. And the footage goes to contractors overseas who are paid to watch and label it for AI training. One worker described seeing a man leave the room, then his wife come in and change clothes. People forget the camera is still on. Meta buries all of this in terms of service nobody reads. The product is marketed as a cool way to capture your life and interact with AI. The reality is strangers in Kenya watching you undress so they can annotate the footage to make Zuckerberg's AI better. Seven million people bought these last year. I'd bet almost none of them understood what they were actually agreeing to. Hedgie🤗
