Everyone throughout the state and country is familiar with Derwin Fields, but Brookhaven takes pride in having a team comprised of exceptionally talented athletes. Southwest Mississippi remains an underrecruited region, which explains why many people are surprised that Brookhaven defeated West Point. Nobody could have convinced Brookhaven throughout the year that they were not the top team in 5A.
