@AlexRMcColl @JeromyYYC She's not arguing that the education tax would go to the local schools. She's saying the province would keep funding the schools equally just like they are doing right now, but cities keep the education tax in lieu of grants (eg: green line funding).

Hyper local education property taxes are a failed American policy experiment that produces huge inequity in public school funding. Jeromy’s point still stands, this is a huge Provincial tax hike.

Danielle Smith from 2022 would agree with @JeromyYYC that Calgary isn't getting a fair deal. "If we're going to rail against equalization at the federal level, then we can't keep doing the same thing to our municipalities..." She was saying many things back then to get elected.

Over-taxation and under-representation. Our Edmonton provincial government is pushing the biggest property tax hike in Calgary’s history. Nearly half your property tax bill now goes to Edmonton as a transfer payment. Their take is up 57% in four years. Now they're demanding 21% more -- about $339 per household -- this year alone. By comparison, Edmontonians are being asked to pay $154 more. Let’s work together for a fair deal for Calgary.

One thing that has become obvious after budget day: govt finally has to admit how much they have BLOATED the HC admin! Looks like it took AHS from about 3.5% admin costs to 6.7% admin costs (or more)!!! That's INSANE! (we still don't know the AHS BLOW-UP costs yet) 1/2
