update: we’re stuck in Tel Aviv. our flight was cancelled 3hrs before it was scheduled airlines are canceling flights, and for good reason — Hamas has been bombing Ben Gurion airport throughout the last day just a few hours ago, the entire airport scurried for cover after receiving a bomb threat. we are sad, paralyzed and tired. I’ve burned many bridges in the last 3 days because of simply being in Israel, and documenting what’s been happening or how we are feeling — never once denying Palestinians the right to a home where they feel safe. The most hurtful part is that these bridges were once strengthened because of our aligning ‘values’. We denounce the maltreatment of women, gay/trans rights, and the right to free will — together, both in-person and on our online platforms. It is possible to care deeply for innocent human lives — regardless of race/denomination — and denounce terrorist extremism. The death of innocent civilians is not, and never will be a ‘contextual’ matter. I appreciate all the messages of solidarity sent thus far, both private/public. It is sad that merely expressing empathy for unquestionable atrocities is a direct path to being attacked or called heartless/ignorant/insensitive 💔
