Sterling Bank has pledged to provide #60 Million Naira strictly for 2027 South East Maths Olympiad prize money. According to Alex Onyia, the convener and the founder of Educare, Africa's largest online learning platform, below is the prize breakdown for the competition: Senior category winner: #10 million Junior category winner: #5 million Primary category winner: A3 million Teachers whose students win in each category will receive #¥3 million, while the schools of the winners will receive #5 million each. Students who qualify for the Round of 45 will each receive #100,000. In addition, the second-place winner will receive #1 million, while the third-place winner will receive #500,000. The South East Maths Olympiad is quickly becoming one of the largest academic competitions in Nigeria, with organizers projecting that up to 100,000 students may participate in the 2027 edition.The competition will be open to students across the five South-Eastern states - Abia State, Anambra State, Ebonyi State, Enugu State, and Imo State. Onyia also revealed that the overall winners will go on to represent the region at major international competitions, including the 2027 International STEM Olympiad and the 2027 German Maths Olympiad Grand Finale. Participation in the South East Maths Olympiad will be completely free for all eligible students. Onyia explained that any child who lives in the South East or attends school in the region can participate, regardless of nationality or tribe. He added that the long-term goal of the Olympiad is to build one of Africa's strongest future workforces by making education exciting,competitive, and rewarding for young people.
