Some shepherds in the north of England still use this way of counting.

It was so great to work with some our 5/6 kids today on using algebra tiles to model and solve simple equations. As my math hero @msbjacobs lays it out “you need to start with concrete, move into diagrammatic and then get into symbolic” this was a huge first step #mathbumps

Welcome to the Grade 3’s Array City! This week we have been learning multiplication strategies and took what we learned about arrays to make an array city!

On “snow days” we learn new math games! “0h No 99” is a classic for working on addition strategies and facts, as well as developing thinking and reasoning strategies!

Our annual “Geography Challenge” is underway! This is such a great experience and opportunity for our students to demonstrate their knowledge of Canadian and world geography!

It really was mind blowing. As a principal now, I always introduce it to the teachers I work with.

I had some serious #mathbumps today as I walked around the classrooms! I saw a fraction talk, a pentominoe challenge and a place value card game, and all in junior and intermediate classes! Making math engaging!

I spent some time with the grade 3s today exploring 3D shapes. The use of polydrons and Polypad from @MathigonOrg made it a real hands on learning experience with some amazing mathematical discoveries. #mathbumps
