“Will I ever see you again?” the Wanderer asked the Heron. “No,” he said as he cocked his head to the side, “Our journey ends here.” The Wanderer looked on. “But do not weep our parting, as our time together was sweet, and I’m nothing but a passing spirit. Goodbye my friend.”

Dark shades fell upon the River that Night blowing hot breath as they made their crossing. The Rolling Calves’ metal song reverberated through the Night as the John Crow looked on menacingly. Many years the Crows were sent to find Mr. Brown, would he be across the River?

The Red Moon holds significant meaning in my work because it being an eclipse stands as a sign of resistance agains the erasure of our culture and stories. We must keep the light of our history alive.

The spirit said to keep walking and I kept walking and now my life doesnt make sense. What am I to do about the moving stillness inside my body? I lied upon the grass, until the blades turned tassels, brushing me towards the peace I set out to find but never did…

Can you believe the Red and Blue Set girls in Jamaican Jonkonnu were described as imitations of European dancers? Dem brite (and facety) eeh? I didn't like that. So this body of work started as decolonizing the Set Girls and rewriting them as spiritual archetypes.

In The Passage Between Worlds, Richard Nattoo (b. 1993, Jamaica) constructs a richly imagined cosmology that blurs the boundaries between the seen and unseen and the waking and the dream.

If you ever Wander at Night and come upon the door between the shadows then be sure to wake up before walking through. I have heard stories of the last person that tried to trick the shadows, he found himself under a new name, between three crows and a Brown Boat.
