Rising attacks in the #Persian Gulf and surrounding maritime regions have led to increased alertness for Indian seafarers. The Directorate General of Shipping has issued a new safety advisory stating that merchant vessels transiting through the Persian Gulf, Strait of #Hormuz and #Gulf of Oman must exercise heightened vigilance. According to DDG (Crew) P.C. Meena, in recent days incidents of attacks on merchant #vessels in the region using drones, missiles and fast small boats have come to light. These incidents have raised serious concerns regarding maritime security and have made the situation extremely sensitive. In one of the recent incidents, two #seafarers were trapped inside the accommodation area of a merchant vessel after a fire broke out. The only escape route was through the front portholes, but it was reported that adequate equipment to break the glass panels during an emergency was not available.In another incident, a boat-launched drone targeted the engine room of a vessel, resulting in one #seafarer being trapped inside the #engine room without sufficient time to escape. In a separate incident, another merchant vessel was attacked, causing severe damage to the vessel’s ballast tank and leading to penetration into the adjacent cargo tank. #Experts believe that such incidents indicate the growing trend of asymmetric warfare in the maritime domain. DG Shipping has instructed masters and crew members to maintain round-the-clock surveillance around the #vessel. Particular attention should be given to suspicious small #crafts, #drone activity, #missile threats or any unusual movement, and such incidents must be reported immediately to the concerned authorities.All shipping companies and #RPSL agencies have also been directed to establish a 24×7 emergency contact mechanism so that immediate assistance can be provided in case of any crisis. They have also been advised to keep seafarers’ families informed in a timely manner and maintain coordination with #Indian missions abroad. According to DDG (Crew) P.C. Thai-flagged vessel attacked near Strait of Hormuz, three crew reported missing A Thai-flagged cargo vessel was reportedly attacked near the Strait of Hormuz on March 11, leaving three crew members missing, according to media reports. The vessel, MAYUREE NAREE Bangkok, was hit near its stern while sailing in waters near Iran. The ship had 23 crew members on board. Initial reports said three crew members were unaccounted for following the incident. Shipping data from MarineTraffic showed the vessel had departed from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and was heading to India at the time.

भारत में सड़क और परिवहन ढांचे का तेजी से विस्तार हो रहा है। इसी कड़ी में दिल्ली-मेरठ एक्सप्रेसवे (Delhi-Meerut Expressway) देश का सबसे चौड़ा एक्सप्रेसवे बनकर सामने आया है। आमतौर पर जहां भारत में एक्सप्रेसवे 6 या 8 लेन के होते हैं, वहीं इस एक्सप्रेसवे का एक बड़ा हिस्सा पूरे 14 लेन का है। इसी वजह से इसे देश का सबसे चौड़ा एक्सप्रेसवे कहा जाता है। यह आधुनिक एक्सप्रेसवे दिल्ली से मेरठ की यात्रा को न सिर्फ तेज बनाता है, बल्कि इसे सुरक्षित और लगभग सिग्नल-फ्री भी करता है। दिल्ली-एनसीआर के लाखों यात्रियों के लिए यह सड़क किसी लाइफलाइन से कम नहीं है। दिल्ली-मेरठ एक्सप्रेसवे की कुल लंबाई करीब 96 किलोमीटर है। यह एक्सप्रेसवे NH-9 का हिस्सा है और इसकी शुरुआत दिल्ली के सराय काले खां क्षेत्र से होती है। यह मार्ग गाजियाबाद होते हुए मेरठ तक जाता है। यह एक्सप्रेसवे 1 अप्रैल 2021 से पूरी तरह चालू हो चुका है।इस एक्सप्रेसवे का लगभग 27 किलोमीटर लंबा हिस्सा 14 लेन का है। बाकी हिस्सा 6 लेन का बनाया गया है। 14 लेन वाले सेक्शन में दोनों दिशाओं की मुख्य लेन, सर्विस रोड और अन्य सहायक लेन शामिल हैं। इसकी वजह से ट्रैफिक का दबाव काफी हद तक कम हो जाता है और यात्रा का समय भी घटता है।

अगर आप 7 फरवरी को कहीं जाने की प्लानिंग बना रहे हैं, तो सावधान हो जाइए। देश भर में Uber, Ola और Rapido जैसी ऐप-बेस्ड कैब सेवाओं के ड्राइवर्स ने देशव्यापी हड़ताल का ऐलान किया है। इस विरोध प्रदर्शन को ऑल इंडिया ब्रेकडाउन नाम दिया गया है, जिसके तहत ड्राइवर्स एक साथ अपनी राइड-हेलिंग ऐप्स को बंद कर देंगे। यात्रियों को ऑफिस जाने, एयरपोर्ट पहुंचने या किसी जरूरी काम के लिए वैकल्पिक साधन तलाशने होंगे। इस हड़ताल का आह्वान तेलंगाना गिग एंड प्लेटफॉर्म वर्कर्स यूनियन (TGPWU) ने अन्य राष्ट्रीय श्रमिक संगठनों के साथ मिलकर किया है। यूनियन का कहना है कि ऐप-आधारित ड्राइवर लंबे समय से अनदेखी और शोषण का सामना कर रहे हैं। यूनियन ने सोशल मीडिया प्लेटफॉर्म X पर लिखा कि कोई न्यूनतम किराया नहीं, कोई रेगुलेशन नहीं, अंतहीन शोषण। इसी के विरोध में ड्राइवर 7 फरवरी को काम ठप करेंगे। #Ola #Uber
