5 ways to reduce #radiation exposure in the #cathlab 1- Increase your distance from the patient. 2- Collimate and use wedges. 3- Step away when using Cine. 4- Cranial & LAO angles = higher exposure! 5- Use additional shielding.

For my cath lab friends, about 80% of your exposure comes from Cine. You can protect yourself by 1) getting behind a barrier 2) step away from the table 3) use less Cine (if possible)

For those who are wondering about the long term effects of the CT scans, you're diet has a substantially larger effect on your long term health.

That means you need to be exposed to 656 chest CT scans at one time to have a 50% chance of 💀 from the radiation. And that's if you don't do anything about it. With that said, don't stress about your CT scan unaliving you.

☢️ A single 4 Gy whole body radiation dose has a 50% chance to unalive a person within 60 days if untreated. When coupled with antibiotics and a sterile environment, the dose increases to 8 Gy. FYI, a standard chest CT scan exposes you to just 0.0061 Gy. #Radiation
