100 years ago - America decided to bestow voting rights upon half the citizenry. And it took until tonight for that to ripple through to the highest office in the land. 100 years. Damn ... it took WAY too long - but, ladies... We finally made it.

@jacobsoboroff @NBCNews We've come a long way from Why Tuesday?! Many of these kids will be voting, right in Philly, tomorrow.

@heymrsbond I knew a guy like that... It was disgusting to watch.
English

@MarkJWestpfahl Also... Wishing you all the best on Tuesday!
English

@MarkJWestpfahl I see I'm not the only one that does this...
English

@AlexSVenet I thought about it for a minute. The answer is no. Just. No.

Yesterday was scary. My youngest and her girlfriend got into a car accident on the 70-mile-per-hour interstate near Tomah, Wisconsin. Their car rolled twice and landed on its roof, leaving them hanging by their seatbelts.
Amazingly, they weren't hurt except for bruising and soreness. After seeing the car up close, I'm astounded that was the case.
They had their new kitten in the car with them, and he is missing, which is very sad. (We're taking all the steps we can think of to find him, and he is chipped, but still.)
I'm still processing how close we were to utter disaster while trying to help them handle the aftermath as best they can -- claims, doctors, transportation, cat-searching, general trauma.
Hug your loved ones.
Wear your seatbelts.

@bebe1969 Years ago [I'm 7 yrs older than Kamala] you didn't pay income tax if you made only a few thousand and were under 21
I worked at Sears when I was 17, paid all taxes, yet that doesn't show up on my Social Security form.

@MattRKay I had a multi-day spirited back and forth with Mr. Sanchez in like 2010 about this... To him there was no difference. I assured him that to his students, there definitely was. "I don't know, I'm just telling you, they like to fill in boxes"

@offgridteacher @heymrsbond With the number of airbnbs on my road (on a lake in rural WI), I feel like I should run one. Pontoon parlays, kayak collabs, hikes with nature appreciation... Then times for folks to hash out their best ideas.
English

@heymrsbond I’ve suggested summer camp for teachers a number of times here. 😂
English

@wkamaubell One of my first memories is when I threw myself into a full sobbing tantrum when my parents couldn't find a babysitter and we had to go to bowling league with them when I was 5yo. I missed a *whole episode* of BJ and the Bear and I was inconsolable.
English

@rafranzdavis Without a doubt - but it always seems so strange that they want something to happen, but create the complete opposite conditions that would realize that goal. Baffling.
English

@dlaufenberg Well there’s that too. But also respect people’s right to decide this for themselves

One of the women in this article called for more religion in school so that basically girls would feel more obligated to have babies. L-O-L…No
The New Yorker@NewYorker
The cat-lady memes point to a broader trend: women in the U.S. are having fewer children. An economist and mother of eight children views the “birth dearth” as a cultural crisis of relentless individualism. nyer.cm/5DrmDDa

@BMoreDefiant @MattRKay That same school I was in required us to turn in a hard copy of our lesson plans ... I had a binder - lessons labeled Week One, Day one style. I knew where they were stored over the summer. Each summer I would steal my binder back and then hand it in again. No one noticed.
English

@dlaufenberg @MattRKay So much stuff they demand educators do for no good reason. During virtual teaching we had to fill out a log of what we had done every day. For months I wrote, “put my head in my hands and sobbed quietly to myself.” Nobody noticed that either.
English

@dlaufenberg @MattRKay I once wrote “Students will be able to hopefully learn some stuff,” right before they brought a bunch of visitors through and nobody noticed.
English

@krisingsun How would it get board approval without being public information?
