@StanleySwanson0 @OMagicHQ Lauri injury history isn't great reading either, another aspect this FO continuously don't take very seriously but is a major flaw in their evaluations.

@StanleySwanson0 @OMagicHQ So the question is, who were they discussing from our roster then? It's obviously not Paolo so how did they think Lauri, Franz & Paolo would co-exist? I'm concerned with this FO to say the least.

I’ve done A LOT of digging since first hearing about this and NO “Stanley Swanson” isn’t a real source but I feel confident posting about this. The Orlando Magic (more so Jeff Weltman is a fan of) have been linked to Lauri Markkanen for several seasons now. -Orlando initially wanted Lauri in the trade for Vucevic but settled on WCJ and TWO picks. It made more sense for Orlando at that to go with the picks since Lauri was expiring and Weltman wanted assets for the rebuild and figured he could bring him to Orlando in the offseason(he went to Cleveland in a sign and trade so) . -Orlando then tried to get Lauri from the Jazz with a package that included JI, Cole Anthony and a first round pick.(pre Desmond bane trade). Utah said absolutely not lol. -Orlando then was tied with Markkanen THIS trade past deadline with a package that included FRANZ WAGNER. Now I don’t know if it was Utah asking or Orlando dangling Franz Wagner (I’m of the belief that it was Utah and that’s why Weltman was saying teams were asking for a core player in trades for role players) BUT I do believe that Weltman has an enormous amount of desire to get Lauri in and Orlando Magic uniform. As far as if Lauri fits this team, idk man, we probably won’t be able to get our hands on him either with how our cap works but it’s 100% the type of player Jeff Weltman wants. IMO if Jeff liked him so much we shoulda chose him before Jonathan Isaac but it is what it is. Like I said I’m not a source whatsoever this is just me doing some heavy digging around after I heard about the Franz/Utah trade online .

@StanleySwanson0 @OMagicHQ The fact we did not recover after losing to Detroit when Franz went down.. I'd say almost 0% chance Franz is traded before any of the others. Franz is the one I feel won't be the moving part when we search for that right balance on the roster. But this FO is impossible to read.

@StanleySwanson0 @OMagicHQ If you listened to Weltman yesterday the last player we're entertaining in trades is Franz. Ever since it was kept under wraps that we loved Franz in his draft year, he's been the backbone of this rebuild. His versatility is let's say 'easier' to piece players around.

@Stillmatick @MagicalNBA That would be giving Weltman far too much credit.

@MagicalNBA If he comes out and says we’re shit and need an overhaul, it creates disruption to the players, potentially causing them to request trades (which reduces their value), it also suggests to other teams that we’re desperate and gives them the upper hand.

I think this was the worst Weltman presser of all time. The constant sniffing, the insistence that this roster is really good and just gets hurt a lot. There is no way anyone competent watched that and thought "yeah, that went well". At full health they would have lost in R2.

@OMagicGuru Weltman said people should be uncomfortable in the building. He spoke about everyone else but not once did he take any accountability of his own job and his role in how it ended. Oh sorry, took ownership of not sharing his extension news. We're going nowhere anytime soon.

@OMagicGuru ... but again, the tip toeing around these issues and there are lots, is what is partially holding back this team & franchise. We need strong minded executives that are willing to ask the tough questions. I'll say it again, things are too comfortable in Orlando.

On the bright side I’m excited for a wide open offseason for Franz Wagner

Is this guy Ryan real? If Mose brought Orlando a championship two years ago like Mazulla did for Boston then yes I think the firing would be a bad move

@AntMagicHQ It's Franz or bust for Weltman.

The failures of this team falls at the feet of Weltman just as much if not more as it does Mosley. Weltman securing an extension while the head coach gets thrown out doesn’t feel right. Mose unfortunately had to go but Weltman should have gone with him.

One of the most delusional exit interviews from an exec I’ve ever heard, Weltman is the worst thing to ever happen to the Orlando Magic and we hired a hockey GM. I expect an awful head coach signing and the entire roster back. Guy is watching another simulation.

There are obviously flaws beyond that but…

I would love to see Jalen Suggs with a coach that doesn’t let him do whatever he wants every possession.

Just wanted to say thanks to all the Magic fans who supported our content this year. I started doing this 7 years ago because I didn’t have anyone in my life to talk about this team with. I have found that and then some. Best community in the world. We’ll have another pod Wednesday to fully autopsy the season and talk about exit interviews then we’ll take a bit of a break. Love yall!

This team won 45 games & 1 game out of 5th seed with Franz missing 50, Paolo injured & playing a good chunk of the season getting into condition, playing Tyus Jones 1/2 of the year & no offensive scheme. This isn’t a blow it up situation.
