One of the things I'm loving about getting older is how little I care what you think.

@SarahTheHaider I still think it's just attention-seeking taken ad absurdum. All that's needed to make her go away is just to resist the urge to share everything she says.

She is almost certainly spiraling into full-blown psychosis. It is not a grift, she believes what she says, and when the fear gets to her, it won't be pretty.

Candace Owens is now pushing that Charlie Kirk was a TIME TRAVELLER - and that he had "AGENTS" (yes, like the Matrix) monitoring him from childhood - and that he was killed because he tried to DISTURB space-time continuum. No, I'm not kidding.

@Kasparov63 I continue to be baffled by how exactly Lex is able to get these kinds of guests. He's got the personality of a bag of gravel, and his questions may as well be generated by a chatbot.

Now I'm playing with some ultra-cheap ESP32 dev boards. This one, the size of a postage stamp, and under $2, can do WiFi, bluetooth, I2C, SPI, all with MicroPython.

@Sara_Imari It made me genuinely emotional - what a way to open up, how inspiring, and how true.

@SarahTheHaider Yeah, charging for no-shows is something they should do, but don't, probably for fear of negative reviews. My only other idea is an app that shows real-time wait times before you arrive; but that could be a double-edged sword and cause people to arrive even later.

My waxing salon has a solution: strict policy for late arrivals and will charge no-shows. They also start texting and calling if you are running late to get an idea of your ETA. Is there a reason doctors cannot do this?
Dmitry Brant@dmitrybrant

@SarahTheHaider My wife is a physician, and at her office, double-booking is very much the norm, because of how often people simply fail to show up without notice. So, on a rare day when everyone who's scheduled actually shows up, that's when wait-times start to add up.

Physician friends: WHY are waits for scheduled appointments so long? I can’t imagine any other industry that asks this of their clients.

@SarahTheHaider Many of my friends are perplexed that I'm a Russian person who doesn't like chess. I guess the idea is that it's supposed to train you to "think x moves ahead", and somehow that will translate to other areas of life... but surely there are less boring ways of doing that.

Of course, some claim to play chess only for recreation. But I wonder how true that is! Out of all the intellectually challenging activities, is chess all that fun, or is it simply prestigious/sophisticated in a way Command and Conquer isn’t?

I taught myself chess from the encyclopedia when I was a child, and couldn’t wait to play with a human. By the time I was old enough to do it, I was also old enough to ask “why”. If I become the best in the world at this, would that ability take me somewhere worth being?

Walk into the philosophy dept at a top 20 university and you will meet some of the smartest people the country has to offer. Spend enough time with them, however, and you will see that they are to “genius” what bodybuilding is to strength.

What utter drivel. What is fascinating is when she embraced black conservatism, the road was already paved by those before her and she just cloaked herself with their words. She has not contributed one original idea to this effort. And the minute she goes off that path and has to actually think, we get this drivel.

@StopAntisemites A fine message for aspiring terrorist groups: brand yourself as a liberation movement, and win the support of braindead American college kids who were taught only those keywords.
