Do you know that there was a time when the former Governor of Abia State, who is currently the Senator representing Abia North senatorial district, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, wrote to the state government during the last administration, appealing for them to repair the long-abandoned Umuahia-Uzuakoli-Alayi-Igberre-Abiriba-Ohafia road? This route connects many communities, but we couldn't access it due to its nightmare condition. There was a time we had to divert to Ozuitem and navigate to IGBERE and later return to Akara-Alayi just because of an ordinary erosion around some portion of the road. All pleading and begging fell on deaf ears. Back then, Omoyele Sowore didn't know what half-development meant. None of these overnight activists could access this path, let alone react or talk. Today, the story has changed for good, just within three years in office. If you're using this road and other areas that were once bad during those years when we were in the dark, please be appreciative. It's never easy. Some governors would still receive huge and enough money to fix these roads but choose to abandon them and use peanuts to pay influencers and radio jockeys to sing their empty praises.
