The 40-year-old was speaking after Manchester United's 1-1 draw against Leeds United at Elland Road, which followed cryptic comments during Amorim's pre-match press conference on Friday.

Yeah, it’s a relief to win a game but the issues were still all there. To have got to this point without signing a keeper and a midfielder is baffling,

A tale of two halves for MUFC. Controlled, purposeful, vibrant in first half. Could + should have been 3 goals ahead and out of sight. Second half a mess: no midfield balance, defensive chaos, GK issue exposed, shapeless. Similarities to Fulham draw. Deep flaws that can't last.

One of the better performances of the season, if not the best. A real shame it was too late but, it’s time to move on, as painful as it is. This long arse agonising season is over and hopefully with one game a week, no Europe and a decent summer we can get back on track. I’m always trying to be optimistic but there’s not a lot of confidence on my side.
Funnily enough, the more aggressive 3-1-5-1 from Amorim today was very impressive. Lots of lovely wide combinations with the WCB stepping into the space and getting Amad high and wide. That’s the ideal blueprint but there’s more tweaks and changes needed alongside individual quality.
