That's from today's NYT report, and it's the reason I'm not being as hard on JD Vance as others are today. The man is in an impossible situation, but he did do everything he could to prevent this from happening in the first place. Did he fail? Sure, but he tried, and that's all we can ask for. And now that we are in the war, he has no choice but to back the administration he is a part of and see it to a favorable conclusion. You can disagree with that and still understand why he is doing it. I'm sure plenty will disagree, but I think Vance is in a great position to claim the GOP nomination in 2028. Whether he wins given the albatross now around Republicans' neck because of this pointless war is an entirely different matter.

I will admit it. I LOVED Trump unhinged when he was on the campaign trail. He was outspoken, politically incorrect and fearless in his brutality. And I loved it. In the wake of so much political correctness, it was refreshing to see a man who didn't care what people thought. He was a breath of fresh air. He wasn't a politician and that's what I loved about him. The problem is, our chickens have come home to roots. We said, "let Trump be Trump." Now here we are. On the brink of nuclear war.
