You know this tweet made me realise what the biggest problem with the modern OP fandom is: people just really hate sincere emotion now. If something is sad, Oda's dragging it (e.g. Kuma backstory). If it's too joyful, it's mickey (e.g. Nika Bonney). Nothing can ever be earnest.

The last major arc shorter than Skypiea was Punk Hazard. Luffy was out of commission while Zoro, Chopper and Robin fights were happening. The modern anime community would've especially loved that part of the arc

No other manga is held to the same ridiculous standards when it comes to side characters. Oda and kubo are allowed to introduce characters and abandon them (rightfully so) but god forbid kishimoto doesn’t flesh out ten ten or kiba. You guys ignore every other side character.
