Forbearance is a tool for non-payment that can be used strategically. Look into the forbearance terms for your loan. studentaid.gov/manage-loans/l… Forbearance can bring your account "current" aka, wipe out your balance owing and stave off creditors

Move out of the United States to a country with more reasonable policies such as free tuition. Your credit score doesn't follow you internationally.

Be aware that this method risks wage garnishment, penalties, and will destroy your credit--however it is also the strongest way to take a stand against the predatory student debt system

Simply don't pay - this will enter you into arrears (behind on payments) and you will be referred to collections after three months of non-payment. If you don't care about your credit and your wages are non-garnishable, simply continue not paying.

If you have a low income, get on an Income-Driven Repayment plan and defer payments year by year. studentaid.gov/manage-loans/r… Pro-tip, if your income changes you can call your servicer and enter this type of plan at any time
