Jews, Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Mormons, Quakers and even Satanists and Far-Right thugs like Tommy Robinson have all held their religious festivals and events in Trafalgar Square… it wasn’t an issue. But the moment Muslims gather in the same space, it becomes front-page news, complete with editorials framing public prayer as “domination” imposed by so-called “Islamists.” The ‘othering’ of Muslims is now complete; you can demonise and in some instances, incite hate on the Muslim community without fear of consequences. What would have been unacceptable a decade ago is now printed, shared, and debated as if it were reasonable. — Faysal Ahmed

Reminder from Gaza: What is the connection between establishing prayer and liberation? When Allah says in the Qur'an, "Establish prayer" it is not merely a command for individuals to pray on their own. Rather, it is a call for the Ummah to ensure that prayer can be established throughout society by removing every obstacle that prevents people from worshipping Allah.

However, a dangerous development occurred last year when some settlers managed to bring sacrificial animals into Masjid Al-Aqsa, in two cases alive, and in one case already slaughtered before Muslims prevented them from reaching their intended location near the Dome of the Rock, specifically the Chain Dome area, which they claim to be the site of the altar. With this precedent, combined with the current leadership of the Jerusalem police, it is highly likely that a serious attempt will be made this year to carry out these rituals inside Masjid Al-Aqsa, possibly with full backing from the occupation authorities. The “reopening” of Masjid Al-Aqsa deception Based on this, it is possible that the occupation may announce a reopening of *Masjid* Al-Aqsa just before Passover at the end of March or early April but in a manner that allows both Muslims and settlers access simultaneously. This reflects a growing policy of equating the two, rather than restoring exclusive Muslim access. Such a move would pave the way for settlers to carry out their rituals during Passover. Therefore, any announcement of reopening *should not be seen as an achievement,* as both the closure and reopening remain under the control of the occupation, not the result of pressure from the Muslim world. Potential obstacles Two factors could disrupt this plan. The first is an escalation in the wider war that stretches the occupation’s capacity. The second is internal instability, such as widespread unrest in Jerusalem and within occupied territories, which would expose the fragility of the internal front, a known vulnerability during times of conflict. Popular deterrence is the only protection The conclusion is clear: Masjid Al-Aqsa is approaching difficult and decisive days. The only real means of protection lies in restoring a strong, collective public deterrence making it clear in practice, not just words, that any violation of Masjid Al-Aqsa will come at a heavy cost. Otherwise, there is a real danger of losing Masjid Al-Aqsa entirely and the question remains: can the Ummah bear such a loss? “And who are more unjust than those who prevent the Name of Allah from being mentioned in His *Masjids* and strive towards their ruin…”  (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:114)

⚠️ What Is Being Planned for Masjid Al-Aqsa After Ramadan? Wednesday 18 March 2026 The unprecedented closure of Masjid Al-Aqsa during the final ten nights of this Ramadan, ordered by the occupation authorities for the first time since 1967, has drawn the attention of the Arab and Muslim world. Many have only now begun to realise what has been unfolding in these nights, particularly when the Ummah awoke to the devastating sight of Masjid Al-Aqsa completely empty on the final Jumu‘ah of Ramadan, a day that would usually see over 300,000 worshippers and on the 27th night, when more than 150,000 would normally be in nafl i‘tikaf. This was alongside scenes of repression and stun grenades at the gates of the Old City, where worshippers were pursued and prevented from gathering in large numbers. In addition, there has been unprecedented pressure placed on the Islamic Waqf, leaving it almost paralysed and unable to carry out its duties. The occupation restricted entry to just 25 staff members, all subject to prior approval. A serious report even indicated that when the Waqf attempted to allow just one additional staff member to enter, the occupation police threatened to immediately open Masjid Al-Aqsa for settler incursions if this number was exceeded! All of these developments point towards Masjid Al-Aqsa standing at the threshold of a decisive attempt to determine its future, with what occurred in Ramadan serving as a prelude to what may follow immediately after. Why is this being said? There are several indicators pointing towards a clear direction. A serious intention to settle the issue of Masjid Al-Aqsa this year. Towards the end of 2025, the occupation began a series of steps aligned with this aim, including the appointment of Avshalom Peled, associated with the Religious Zionist movement, as commander of the Jerusalem district police. His appointment followed disagreements with his predecessor, who had refused to allow settlers to bring tables, chairs, and equipment into Masjid Al-Aqsa due to fears of unrest. Further evidence lies in the confrontation at the start of Ramadan between the occupation police and the head of the Islamic Waqf Council in Jerusalem. When he refused to comply with a police summons, the occupation responded with punitive measures, banning the installation of shade structures, preventing iftar and suhoor provisions for guards, and blocking preparations for the clinic of Masjid Al-Aqsa. In effect, for the first time in history, Ramadan was stripped of its distinct presence within Masjid Al-Aqsa. This culminated in a complete and strict closure during the most sacred days of the year, the last ten nights with an announcement that even Eid prayer would be prevented. Implementing the highest levels of restriction during Ramadan, especially the final ten nights when Muslim presence is at its peak, appears to be a field test of the occupation’s ability to enforce its will during less intense periods. Passover… the next threat and the sacrifice plan Having successfully imposed control during the most sensitive period, it is expected that the occupation will be even more capable of doing so at other times of the year. This comes as the so-called “golden opportunity” approaches: the Jewish Passover, scheduled from 2nd to 9th April, just days after Eid al-Fitr. Passover holds central importance in the rituals promoted by extremist Temple groups, particularly the act of animal sacrifice, which they view as essential to establishing their claimed temple presence within Masjid Al-Aqsa. For over a decade, these groups have attempted to carry out such rituals within Masjid Al-Aqsa but have failed. Instead, they have conducted mock sacrifices around its vicinity.

NEW: The International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) has condemned the Pakistani military strike on drug rehabilitation hospital in Kabul, calling it a heinous crime with hundreds martyred and injured. Statement: The International Union of Muslim Scholars condemns the bloodshed among Muslims and the targeting of a medical facility in Afghanistan The Union is following with deep concern what has occurred between two brotherly neighbouring states in terms of the shedding of Muslim blood and destruction, most recently the attack that targeted a medical facility, resulting in hundreds of deaths and injuries. This is considered one of the gravest and most destructive sins. Even more painful is that it took place during the last ten days of the blessed month of Ramadan. It is also a blatant violation of all international laws and norms that prohibit targeting healthcare facilities and affirm their protection under all circumstances. This comes from a Muslim state during the blessed days of Ramadan, in which the sanctity of blood and the value of human life are magnified. Allah the Almighty says: “Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land—it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one—it is as if he had saved mankind entirely.” [Al-Ma’idah: 32] And He says: “And do not transgress. Indeed, Allah does not like transgressors.” [Al-Baqarah: 190] This act of aggression is forbidden; rather, it is among the gravest prohibitions in our noble religion. Therefore, we call on the Pakistani government and the military leadership in Pakistan to cease such actions, in adherence to religious, moral, and humanitarian responsibility, as well as the rights of neighborliness. We also call for the formation of a transparent and impartial committee to investigate these serious violations and the resulting loss of innocent lives. We remind of the words of Allah: “And whoever kills a believer intentionally—his recompense is Hell, wherein he will abide eternally, and Allah has become angry with him and has cursed him and has prepared for him a great punishment.” [An-Nisa: 93] Accordingly, we appeal to the two neighbouring Muslim states to immediately cease fighting in order to preserve lives and prevent destruction, in response to the call of the Holy Qur’an and the scholarly ruling issued previously, and to revive Qatari-Turkish mediation efforts. The challenges facing our Ummah require understanding and cooperation among its states; indeed, what is required both religiously and in the public interest is unity. Allah says: “And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute and [thus] lose courage and [then] your strength would depart; and be patient. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.” [Al-Anfal: 46] O our brothers in Islam, reconciliation is better. Allah has commanded and obligated it, saying: “The believers are but brothers, so make settlement between your brothers. And fear Allah that you may receive mercy.” [Al-Hujurat: 10] In this context, the Union announces its readiness—through its leadership and secretariat—to play an active role in defusing the crisis and to intervene through available channels to support a serious negotiation process. This would help stop escalation and achieve de-escalation, leading to just and peaceful solutions that preserve lives and uphold human dignity, in accordance with His saying: “And if they incline to peace, then incline to it [also].” [Al-Anfal: 61] And His saying: “There is no good in much of their private conversation except for those who enjoin charity or that which is right or reconciliation between people. And whoever does that seeking the approval of Allah—then We will grant him a great reward.” [An-Nisa: 114] 28 Ramadan 1457 AH Corresponding to: March 17, 2026 Dr. Ali Muhammad Al-Sallabi — Secretary-General Prof. Dr. Ali Mohiuddin Al-Qaradaghi — President

Imam of Masjid Al-Aqsa and former Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, has issued a fatwa calling for Eid prayers to be performed at the nearest point to Al-Aqsa Mosque, after Israel continues to block Muslim worshippers from accessing the holy site. The Fatwa urges all Muslims to head towards Al-Aqsa Mosque and pray as close to it as possible and calls for mosques across Jerusalem to be closed and for Eid prayers not to be held inside them.

Israeli Forces Attack Muslim Worshippers Near Al-Aqsa Mosque On the 29th Night of #Ramadan, Israeli occupation forces attack Muslim worshippers attempting to perform Taraweeh prayers at the nearest accessible point to Al-Aqsa Mosque as Israel continues the closure of the holy site for the 18th consecutive day. This is the most severe restriction imposed on the Al-Aqsa mosque ever and since the beginning of the Israeli military occupation in 1967.
