"Holding Out For A Hero" was recorded especially for the soundtrack of the film Footloose (1984) with Kevin Bacon. Bonnie Tyler only agreed to participate if Jim Steinman (total Eclipse of the Heart) produced and co-wrote with Dean Pitchford. Steinman was so excited about the demo that he played the piano so hard that he cut his fingers and left blood on the keys, the guy literally bled from the music! On the re-release in 1985 the track stayed 3 weeks at #2 in the UK and #1 in Ireland.

The video for "Take On Me" was created using the revolutionary technique of rotoscoping (hand drawing frame by frame on top of the actual footage), there were more than 3,000 animated frames, it took almost 4 months to complete. The video helped the song reach #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (a-ha was the only Norwegian band to achieve this in the US), #1 in the UK and won 6 awards at the 1986 MTV Video Music Awards. Today the video has more than 2 billion views, the first video of the 80s to hit this mark.
