There is a class of “global health” people who warmed to (even sought to lead) discussions on “decolonisation” when it began to catch fire in the field, but who has over time come to see that they are the people, their interests are the interests, and their practices are the practices, from which the field would need to be, is being called to be decolonised. It’s been fascinating to watch their retreat, even antagonism.

@RemaNagarajan We are doing India's first comprehensive study on understanding 'Cachexia' in Tuberculosis in Chhattisgarh. The insights are really heart touching, Nutrition is the key issue in TB. TB is not caused by Mycobacterium but due to insufficiency of food.

It all boils down to ensuring people have nutritious food to eat 40% have latent TB infection but not all get TB because of good immunity Poor diet compromises immunity Why not prevent TB thru better nutrition by including pulses, oil etc. in PDS instead of cereal-heavy PDS?

India has made real progress in maternal health, but there’s a worrying trend; C-section deliveries are rising far beyond recommended levels, driven by money, social preferences, & fear of risk. What’s missing is well-trained midwives who can support safe, natural childbirth.

Nicely highlighted by @AnonnaDutt in The @IndianExpress today (carries my quote)—#weightloss drugs must not be advertised, directly or indirectly. These are #potent agents needing strict medical supervision. With generics, #unregulated promotion is a possibilty.
