Glad to see @The_Lighthouse reopened to the public as part of #Sonica Glasgow Festival venue for a limited time only. The view from the higher floor is still spectacular. Could the building revive its role again as Scotland's Centre for #Design and #Architecture?

NEWS // C20 has renewed our call for Historic England to conduct a thematic review of all the key stations on the Jubilee Line Extension, following a recent re-assessment of Southwark Station for listing – one of the masterpieces of the Underground network. Designed by architects MacCormac Jamieson Pritchard and built 1994-99, the Society first unsuccessfully applied to list Southwark Station in 2017, in response to a proposal to demolish the ticket hall for an over-site development. A revised development scheme (consented 2021) would have avoided any demolition and was welcomed by the Society. Now over 30 years old, the station is eligible for national listing at Grade II and C20 has restated our belief that it clearly meets all the criteria. Southwark combines engineering sophistication with dramatic, intricate use of space and light to create a station that, like the celebrated 1930s stations of Charles Holden, is ‘efficient, humane and beautiful’. ▶️ c20society.org.uk/news/c20-renew…
