Bass Reeves (1838 - 1910) was a formerly enslaved man who rose to become the first Black Deputy U.S. Marshal west of the Mississippi River. He is credited with making more than 3,000 arrests during his career. Reeves also killed 14 outlaws in self-defense, but preferred to bring criminals in alive whenever possible to face trial.

@ByMattJones Outstanding reporting by Matt Jones and Christina Long on the football stadium naming deal. For reasons unknown, the AD wasn’t going to tell us anything about the deal, including amount and length of contract. Now more than ever, we need independent journalism and real reporters.

NEW: The CommunityAmerica-Learfield contract is for 14 years, with Razorback Stadium naming rights through the 2039 season. In comments last week, Arkansas AD Hunter Yurachek misstated the contract was for 13 years and stadium naming rights for 12. wholehogsports.com/news/2026/jun/…

Here’s a link for a new 4-min film I shot on my IPhone, as told by Susan McLemore Foley. She researched her family history back to a small village south of Glasgow, Scotland, where she literally walked in the footsteps of her ancestors. vimeo.com/1202566425?sha…

@PigTrailNation It will take 9-12 months to change signage? What? It only took one year and 45 days to build the Empire State Building.

In 1969, Congress was considering major cuts to public broadcasting funding until Mr. Rogers calmly explained what he did on his show. They didn’t. Legend.

On Memorial Day, we pay tribute to the brave men and women in uniform who gave their lives for this country that we love. It is a debt we can never fully repay, but we must never stop trying. I’ll always be grateful to our fallen heroes and their families, whose sacrifice reminds us of what it means to live for something greater than ourselves.
