Join us in recognizing the critical role amphibians play in our ecosystems worldwide and here in the District. Amphibians are important environmental bioindicators. Their presence, absence, or abundance reflects the overall health of their environment. Amphibians are sensitive to environmental changes like pollution, habitat loss, or climate change, so they serve as an early warning system for environmental impacts and degradation. DOEE wildlife biologists are dedicated to protecting amphibians and their habitats in the District. 📷: Marco Carvello, DOEE Wildlife Biologist
