A third: Laying off probationary employees and invoking Reductions in Force are much more likely to cut younger, tech-savvy, high-performers than ineffective hangers-on. New AI-focused staff are especially vulnerable. Likely to unintentionally make govt less efficient.

Though I strongly support DOGE's mission, I’ll note 2 worries: 1) Real risk that large layoffs at agencies creates less oversight on fraud & improper payments 2) Cuts to data collection and subset of research that is policy relevant make the agency’s work less effective over time
