@Pete_Js @footyinsider247 @HACKETTREF It's not that hard to understand. Very few people want the game micro-analysed by VAR, and very few people want the handball law to disallow a goal for such a slight touch. But since that's where the game is at, the goal ought to have been disallowed for consistency.
English

@footyinsider247 @HACKETTREF Awww love when you get people like Hackett, one moment anti VAR & slow mo, next minute he wants to use it.
Bias much?
This is also him BTW…
KEITH HACKETT@HACKETTREF
I never officiated a game at slow motion pace!!!!

@Slotoholic I think probably yellow, just about. The force was on the foot rather than the ankle. But a poor enough challenge that VAR would not have overturned it had ref given red.
English

That’s a red card all day!! 🤦🏻♂️ x.com/bfernandesball…
Slotoholic@Slotoholic
Yellow card to Bruno here? 🤔
English

@Jhay_Of_Uyo_ @TouchlineX I actually have no problem with it, as long as it is consistently done like that
English

@dohgallagher @TouchlineX I understand where your coming from but football is played and controlled by humans and humans ain't rigid 😏
English

@Jhay_Of_Uyo_ @TouchlineX I agree that this would be a common sense interpretation but the rule is pretty clear about what happens if it goes in straight off the hand.
English

@dohgallagher @TouchlineX the speed at which the ball came at him should also be considered .... did he have enough reaction time to take off his hand ??
also the had ball had minimal to no effect on the goal scored, without the hand, he would've still scored .... that was why it wasn't ruled off
English

@Jhay_Of_Uyo_ @TouchlineX The rule is that if it goes in off your hand then it’s handball, without the usual caveats. It had minimal effect here and the goal was “deserved” but it should have been handball by the rules.
English

@TouchlineX no hand ball ... hands are in a natural position and touching his body
for others saying handball ... should he hide his hands inside his belly ??
English

@Slotoholic Defo a handball but we don’t deserve a reprieve
English

@Phillyconcarne @Vandijkishuge That’s quite a reach.
His confusion was this: I am hurt and need treatment. Are Palace going to be sporting and stop the game if I make that obvious, or should I try to play on and risk making things worse?
English

@Vandijkishuge “I didn’t know what to do” quite obvious he then just decided to feign injury
English

One goalkeeper was out injured for 3 months, one played the rest of the game and admitted that he just panicked
Rob Nicholson@bigusrobus
Hey Muñoz @CPFC
English

@oldboydavek @brianlfc0210 @thisisanfield My point about the injury was… an outfield player who can’t play on for a few mins can be covered, a goalkeeper can’t be covered properly. So even if they are only briefly out of action, the even fairness of the sporting contest is gone.
English

@dohgallagher @brianlfc0210 @thisisanfield Yes of course, it's happened when I played football and play stopped when the ball went out. Sanchez for Chelsea has just dropped to the floor so the team can get tactics at Wembley. It will happen in open play too if it's allowed.
English

@oldboydavek @brianlfc0210 @thisisanfield Yes, but Sanchez did it while the ball was miles away. I’ve never seen a keeper pretend injury while mid scramble - they are all insanely committed beyond personal safety, if the ones I know are anything to go by.
English

@oldboydavek @thisisanfield Definitely fair in the sense of the rules. I just don’t think it was sporting of him. Personally, I would not be happy if Liverpool did it. I saw Mo’s collapse for the disallowed pen - that looked pretty poor.
English

@dohgallagher @thisisanfield For sure we'd all be saying the opposite if it was the other way round. It looks like most neutrals and refs on panel shows say fair goal. Had we got an equaliser it would have been an even bigger topic. Awful defending is the main takeaway.
English

@lfcsxl25 @Mark_CPFC Agreed.
Also, I always interpreted “play to the whistle” as “don’t assume the game will stop just because you’ve stopped” (as Van Dijk and Konate did) rather than “ignore principles of good sportsmanship if the game hasn’t been stopped” (as Munoz did).
English

@Mark_CPFC No one cheated, it’s called poor sportsmanship. Huge difference. Has every right to shoot and score, but should accept that doing so while a keeper is down injured is gunna mean he gets stick for it. Really don’t understand the issue here
English

@mevans_11 @ArthurWaitDM The guy is third choice keeper and this may be his only shot at playing for Liverpool. Clearly in pain and needed treatment but it would have taken amputation to stop him playing on after treatment.
English

@ArthurWaitDM That’ll teach him for rolling around on the floor when he could stand up. Only went back down once he saw he’d made the mistake of staying down in the first place.
Hopefully it’ll stop others trying to cheat the system

English

@OffTrack94 @CPFCHQ Completely agree. It was not a pen and Salah should stay on his feet. But he gets fouled so often and gets nothing. Referees seem to think that you need to be knocked clean off your feet for a foul, so that’s what players pretend has happened, and the artful divers get the pens.
English

@CPFCHQ Salah has always FACTUALLY got far fewer decisions than other top attackers. It gets ignored weekly then when he dives once every 3 months you dipshits come out
P.s. Zaha was an awful diver. Your own (and every clubs) defenders dive EVERY WEEK to win fouls to get out of trouble.
English

Not going to say much about the game yesterday and it was largely a waste of time but this was one of the many poor decisions by the ref. Salah has always been a cheat.
Ryan@bernardooooV3
Mohamed Salah clearly dived. that’s never a penalty.
English

@oldboydavek @brianlfc0210 @thisisanfield Have you never had an injury that genuinely stopped you playing but was recoverable from given 5 mins? Like hyperextending your knee, for instance?
English

@dohgallagher @brianlfc0210 @thisisanfield It wasn't an actual injury as he played on. He took a knock, don't need to stop the game
English

@oldboydavek @thisisanfield It was a genuine injury. It was just treatable. I get why the ref couldn’t stop play but scoring the goal was poor.
I’ve seen keepers feign injury after conceding, or when the ball is miles away, to slow down the game. But never in the middle of a scramble around the box.
English

@dohgallagher @thisisanfield Disagree. We can't have a precedent of keepers feigning injury to disrupt attacks. If injury is genuine after then you equal it out. But ALWAYS play to the whistle
English

@brianlfc0210 @thisisanfield You are right about our defenders but not about the goalkeeper thing. No keeper is going to make no effort to get up and block if they can. They are a different species to outfield players. The ref could not stop the game but the player could see it was an actual injury.
English

@thisisanfield I dont actually blame the player. If that goal had been stopped then every keeper in the league will be looking to take advantage of that rule and faking injuries to stop attacks. Konate and VVD shoukd of done their defensive duties and bloxk the goal off
English

@_JF19 Robertson's comments afterwards were good to diffuse the situation - I am sure Munoz is not some great villain - but he knew what he was doing!
English

@dohgallagher That’s fair if you see it both ways.
Sadly it’s not how the game works, players get away with a lot that is arguably unethical.
I can understand the frustration with the Muñoz goal but I still don’t think he did anything wrong as it happened so quickly
English

@Richcummings84 @FYPFanzine Oh come on, the keeper was injured but was able to carry on after treatment.
It was technically fine for Munoz to shoot - some would say it is poor sportsmanship, some not - but let's not justify it with excuses.
English

@FYPFanzine Goalie didn’t seem too injured 5 mins later. Let’s be honest, he was banking on the ref stopping play and with it, palace’s attack.
